Attn!!! 1st gen owners w/ cruise

just found out today that my led tail were definatly messing up my cruise control. i have the sonar led tails, cant say if the icpw ones will do this also. when i bought my box the cruise worked. within the first month of owning i did several mods including the tails. about this time the cruise quit working( when i turned it on the vsc, trac control, and abs lights came on but cruise didnt) others suggest it could be the quick tap connections they use to install,) but i tried a better connection and didnt solve the problem. i read somewhere awhile back that someone else had a problem with there tails also so i figured i would give i a try. intalled my factory tails this morning and my cruise worx again. the red pair of led tails and the black pair i just bought did the same thing. sux cuz the black ones are brand new, but im in my car too much not to have cruise.

at least you know the cause of failing cruse... Sucks that it Was the led tails.. So, what are you going to do? Keep the tails or loose 'um and have cruse???

im either goin to smoke my factory tails or mask off a pattern on them and paint them silver or black. if they turn out ok, eventually ill sale my leds

just wondering if your box came with cruise, cuz i had mine installed after i got it and have the cruise post is on the left side of the wheel
just wondering if yours is the same

i bought mine used, and it was already installed. and its on left just like urs. i dont think cruz was a factory option but the dealers would install it.

I know for fact Cruise was a factory option pre-installed on the 06.5 xB. Mine came with it. That sucks to hear about your LED's, though. Heck, to be honest, I never even use my Cruise control. If it was me, I would keep the LED's. LoL!!!

update!!!

so today i was just messin around and decided to trouble shoot again. i tried taken out my ebay led third brake light and put a reg bulb back in the reinstalled my led tails and now dont get all of my warning lights on when i hit the cruise button. the led 3rd worx with the reg taillights, so i dont know if its a combination of both bein led or just a weird scenario???

i tried this once b4 but i guess i had a blown bulb but didnt realize it.

anyway im prob puttin my leds back in and a reg bulb in the 3rd tail. i just ordered ozniums third brakelight b4 i figured this out so hopefully theres wont conflict.

how did this turn out? i have factory cruise on mine and i want the led tails and i also want to order that ozniums led 3rd. did you get everything to work ok?

it appears that the cruise signal is tapped into the 3rd light. so if u put a led their the cruise will not work. the oznium led will work if u put a load resistor on it( but when i tried it the load resistor got way to hot and there is just not enough room in that area to have something that hot there)(but this did resolve the problem, just didnt want to risk it) might be sellin my oz 3rd light

I had the same thing happen to my cruise when my 3rd BL burnt out. Possibly you could put a series of resisters to spread the heat a bit more???
