Any info on the steering wheel control on how to hook it up to an aftermarket radio? I've seen it work on one, but the dude had brought it somewheres to get installed and had no clue on how they did it.

yes there is an interface you must buy that will do it..its refered to as a PACS or similar..i cant think of the actual code..google PACS steering wheel aftermarket it will come up..

Have to dig for what/where, but my Best Buy installer pointed me to it. Bought it online for about $55, and they installed if for free (as part of the stereo install). It comes with some resistors and stuff, so it is not DEAD easy, but if you are handy... maybe... I was glad I didn't have to do mine.

There are several models, and it was a long acronym... stood for something like Steering Wheel Interface for vehicles with Remote Control Input or something. They no longer stock them all, but had some pieces from the same co. in the store. They make a lot of little stereo install bits. You can get the name from Best Buy and find the right one online. They are a bit car and head-unit specific too (1 works for many but not all, dif. ones for dif. setups) but it was not hard to figure out which was needed.

It works great. One bonus with my Alpine, is the volume works as an "exit" to the tone/bal. controls. So if you want to adjust bass, sub, treble, bal., fader, etc. (or just 1 or 2 of them which is usually the case), you don't have to wait or scroll thru to be able to use the head unit vol. control. You can just use the steering wheel control immediately, and it aborts the rest of the selections in the control function.
