I was thinking about getting one to hallow out my oh shit handles. But do they serve anymore purpose then that? Besides arts and crafts projects. I would love to see some members projects that have used them on their rides. I found the tool for $20 at Northern Tool.

Dremel is one of the most versatile tools you will ever buy. To be honest though, I wouldn't cheap out. Get the real deal...it's well worth it.

Once you have a dremel you will find all kinds of projects for it.

I sure it will work, it runs off a air compressor so it shouldn't do to bad. I might have to replace a tip or something but i am sure that will be about it. But what else could I do with it? Everyone says "get one, its a useful tool" but I have never needed one before... SO, what could i use it for

Anything interior, or with fiberglass. They are very usefull when you're trying to remove excess body filler, smooth down fiberglass fibers sticking up that will kill an orbital sander pad, cutting aluminum stock, plexiglass, etc. Some of the attachments are also useful when trying to polish non-flat surfaces. I most recently used it to grind off spall from a poorly welded intercooler pipe. it's basically a cut-off wheel and sander, only smaller for more precision work.

I also used them on my oh shit handles to put in an Oznium LED bar.

Hmm... I've used mine to cut everything from metal to wood to fiberglass to foam. Sanded wood, fiberglass and foam. Used the spiral bits to cut wood for speaker pods. Also sharpened a lawnmower blade. Hmm... Polished metal. Cut off boogered up screws. Buy one or don't. You asked if you should get one and I gave my 2cents.

Also, the link you posted is for an electric model, not an air model.

i have never used an air model but the electric one i have is priceless. I have used it to cut and buff so many things. In fact, just this morning i had to cutch a notch out of a piece in the trunk to run my wires a diffent way for my amp. it looks alot cleaner now and the carpet doesnt bulge in the spot where the wires run under.

also, i dremeled out an entire xA grill to replace it rather then just ziptie the new one over it. its the honeycomb stuff like the tc but its all one solid piece.

A DREMEL TOOL IS A MUST HAVE FOR CAR MODS!

I used mine with a buffing pad a few days ago paired with Meguires PlastX to repair a damaged CD. :) worked like a charm, just remember, don't apply to much pressure when using the Dremel.. FOR ANYTHING. "LET THE TOOL DO THE WORK FOR YOU".. it's right there in the instructions. I alos used a sanding wheel to enlarge a slot in the cargo area of my B this past Saturday so I could run my Preamp wires.. worked like a charm.. I have used it around the house (I Have a cordless model) to cut, grind, polish TONS of stuff.. but I gotta say I never thought using it on a CD/DVD would work.. but it did.

Oddly enough I used my first real dremel for the first time last night.

Used it to get through the firewall on a car, then to smooth out the inserts on a taillight.

Haven't used it in my car yet, but have been using it all week to abrade off stubborn paint on molding when redoing kitchen. If you catch the deal right, at Harbor Freight you can get a 40 piece bit set for about 15$ that has all sorts of good stuff including polishing, cut off wheels, sharpening, etc.

Jes- I bought one of those too.. the actual rotary tool sucks in comparison to the DREMEL Brand. I did find one at Fred Myers (Krogers) or even Walmart. around $40 and has over 50 bits and adapters... wasn't to sure if the tool itself was any good but all the doo dads that came with it would fit the dremel just fine.

I have the black and decker version. It was like $25 $30 at wal-mart does the same thing and can use dremel attachments. I got it because it was cheaper than actual dremel but works great. It also has the speed adjustments.

I used the dremel to gut out the 7440 socket on my TYC tails to convert to an 1157 socket. Allowed the box to have real back-up lights.

Thanks to Old_School for idea
