oh .... well ok than.. understandable. Not addressnig the question, but ersonally, I think the best time would have been in the spring to have someone else ... engifineer... do the LEDs for you so you could have done without the hvac. I unno bout NY, but its too godamn hot down here to NOT use the AC so I'm SOL cus Im not frontin for a new consol

well ... it looked like a cool idea when it was on tctunerz.com .... and we all know ho they turned out.
If I got it myself, I'd have to want the open and close mechanism wired to a switch bc I usually just drive door down, I dont like lookin at the nasty deck ...

More trouble than what it's worth... might not even fit on there cuz you have a double-din touchscreen.

I know a guy that has it and it worked just fine for him. He has it hooked to a switch with a 3rd option for show where it opens and closes at a certain interval. I like the way it looks, personally. He is puitting in a Double-Din touchscreen and as long as you do the correct mod on the brackets to set it further back, you should be fine on that......I have my double din set so that the cover can close.

i have a double din touch screen and the lid closes fine....that lid will cost you about $65. That's how much I bought mine for. I was messing around and broke one of the pieces so had to buy a new one and that's how much it costed at the dealership.

I have the tCover and it works just fine. You should have no problem with a Double-Din unit with touchscreen, thats whats in there, of course with no touchscreen but thats whats in there.

If you want your console LEDs done let me know, I did mine with no problems and the mod to make them brighter cause I used blue and white, i followed engifneers DIY on how to do it and it came out awesome and bright. Let me know, I'm in NY, so its close by.

Heres the site where to get them if you don't know already: http://www.lc-led.com/Products/department/5
get the Surface Mount - Power Top ones

aZepolyn - if you wanna ship them to me I can do them and ship everything back to you, just send me the gagues, HVAC controls and the LEDs and I will do it for ya. hehe

yea no problem, just let me know, you can overnight them to me and I will overnight them back to you as soon as they are done, it should only take me a couple of hours to do both the gauges and the HVAC controls, thats if you get blue or white, if its not blue or white then I don't need to do the resistor mod.

I highly recommend on not getting the PLCC-2 sized ones, they are the size of a piece of lint from your pocket, I used them on mine and they are a bitch to try and handle, they are way too small, the power top ones are the way to go, they are a little bigger than the stock ones but fit on the board and the pads just like the stock ones, I meant bigger as in height. Do not get the PLCC-2 sized ones!

Greg - how many do I need and how do you mod them to make them brighter?

superwhite06
05-23-2006, 12:00 PM
If you look below those are what my guages and HVAC looks like, if you look at the HVAC controls I can make it look exactly like that with the same colors or different colors, when you push the A/C button and the recirc,a nd the defroster buttons in they lite up white instead of amber, if you wanna do that add 4 more leds to the total, if you wanna change the HVAC knob to all white or red/blue then add 2 more leds to the total. The total for hte gauges and the HVAC controls is 26, then add the other leds if you wanan change them also, then it will 32 all together if you wanna do it all.

I can also change the color of the needle backing, from orange to white, I haven't tried any other color yet, but white seems to be the best, I have blue and white gauges and the white needles look awesome with the white LEDs and the blue LEDs.

I will add resistors to back and the front of the HVAC controls board in order to make the blue and white LEDs brighter, if you don't do the mod then they will be very very very dim and you will not be able to see it really at night, I went one night without the mod and I couldn't see anything on the HVAC controls.

If this doesn't make any sense, just ask questions and I will answer them for you.

Those are nice and bright. I actually had Engifineer do mine since I was worried about the LED thing as well. I probably should have done it myself since I looked at it and it wasn't that hard to do........
