I have a pair of 10" Kicker Comps running with a 500w Alpine amp. I was looking into adding another amp, a 200w Kicker, to boost the vocals in my 6" Kicker speakers.

I was talking to a friend and he advised me that with the more power sucked by the amps, it may have an effect on my alternator. So my question is, what is the limit to how many watts my alt can take?

I was told by a speaker installer that the general rule is that you'd be okay with under 1000w. Since you guys know about your cars, I figured this would be easier then calling the dealership.

Btw, I have an 05 tC.

i wouldnt worry about upgrading your alt unless you were pushing some serious power...

Yeah, you should be fine. If your lights start to dim a bit after adding the other amp, look into a decent battery change upfront and that should solve your problems. Besides, I doubt that you'll get all 700wrms out of those amps anyways so you should be ok.

Alright thanks! This helps me a lot. Now my
next biggest obstacle is financing the purchase and installation. Haha thanks
again :)
