View Full Version : TEIN problem?

Ok, im not sure if its the suspension or what.. (thats why im here)..

Here's the problem. I just had a set of TEIN S-Tech's installed just a few months ago, then had an allignment and balance done. i DO NOT have a camber kit though. The passenger side REAR tire is completely bald (looks like a racing slick) and the driver side REAR tire has about 2 inches of LOW tread on the outside of the tire. SO, what im asking is.. does anyone know (without me buying tons of WRONG things to fix it) what could be causing this? The Front in dropped 2.5" and the Rear is 2.0" if that helps any. I think my allignment and balance could possibly be off a little bit so thats probably not helping. I'm gonna try to fix it today if i can figure it out.

Thanks

seems like the mount and balance of the tire if its not an even wear on both back tires or both front tires but i could be wrong. how long have you had the s-techs on. i know my rears camber about +2 (tops in) but i haven't had any abnormal wear on them

i've only had the S-techs for maybe about 2 months.. not very long.. im hearing that i might need to change the strut cuz i haven't done that. Those are still stock!

As far as i know. It was done by a local shop that does lowering jobs all the time.. and up until now i haven't had any problems. You know how much it would be to get JUST the strut from TEIN?

did you get it alligned right after you dropped it?

if so you might want to do it again because the springs have settled

Nah, the S-tech are great.. Nice, smooth ride (considering they are $200 springs only, not coilovers) I thought i just might have an allignment problem after they settled or something.. but it turns out it was just time to change the tires. Unfortunately my tires are $600 a set, so i wont be changing those for awhile.. in the meantime, i'm selling my Tenzo GF7's 18"

I posted them in the classified sectioN!

Sounds like a toe problem not camber........

If the local shop unbolted the bottom rear perch it would through it off.... If thats the case that sucks.......

S-techs do require a camber kit essepcailly for you Jef since you have a heavy sound system in the back.

Having stock struts doesnt make your tires go bald... just means they go out faster because they are not made for that drop....

Jeff

If you can post me the alignment readout sheet I can tell you exactly whats the issue.
If you did not get one you will need a 4 wheel alignment and from a company that can print out the complete results.

Suspension is what I did R&D on for the manufacturer I worked with.:blink2:

stupid question here... do they have to take the rims off to do an alignment??? if so, that means i'm going to have to put my stock tires on... i dont want them screwing up my widetracks...

killerglass

No, you keep on whatever tires & rims your using, it can make a difference in th eoutcome

Just remember

Always get a 4 wheel alignment & make sure they can do a printout of the alignment before you have them start.

The printout of the before & after specs is extremely important, I cnat stress that enough:bash:
