OK, I am looking to install a set of "Train horns" in my car. The ones I have now are nothing more then over sized air horns. Yeah, they are loud, but they still sound kind of whimpy. Too high pitched. I am looking for the low, deep rumble. Where is a good place to look online for ordering beside ebay? and does anyone know what kind of store would carry something like this? I have hit up a couple of truck stops but no luck. I read somewhere online that the longer it is and the wider the bell, the deeper it will be. Does any have any suggestions?

I got mine from Doug at AirRideFittings.com. They don't list them on their website, but e-mail them through their contact us and tell them what you are looking for and let them know Resolve sent you and they will let you know what they can get. I got the Kleinn forgot what model. Not the bigger end though. It's not a real deep sound but also not the high pitched sound. I don't like the higher pitched horns. they work well for surprising people with the xD. I am planning on upgrading to the 630 model.
And there is Hornblasters.com is good well known company. They sale stuff like Nathan Train horns. the real deal but with the real prices.
Hope that helps.

I would love a train horn in a tC. There is a shop by me that has put them on a couple trucks. Gonna need an air compressor, although if you already have air horns I assume you've got one. A train horn a small coupe is an awesome idea. I would like to do the same, just not sure where I would put all the parts that go with one.

I've been talking with a guy I work with, he's done some research into the subject (he wants a set for his Soul, but I don't hold that against him) apparently a true "conductor style" set is two horns and they're tiny; they cost like $1500 bucks though. They do, however, really sound like a train. Another option is a 4 horn set that is not as loud and the horns are bigger, it only costs around $500 and still has a good train sound to it.

Here is a site that I remember from back when I was looking into the mini truck scene. This is a site that most of them would recommend since there carry everything from mild to wild. I am including a page off there site of sound samples too.

Also 4 horns is not less loud but they are a different tone. and a TRUE train horn has a deep bass sound and they are $1500+ for just the horns. These are your true train horns:

But for a horn that is less price but still super loud about as loud as a true train horn and even confirmed by an independent source go with:

I am thinking about getting those ^^^^
But if your buddy is saying that 4 horns are less loud then he is looking at cheap or fake horns and needs to do more research.

I have the 5 trumpet set behind my bumper in my xB1. They are made by Omega. They aren't quite as deep sounding as a train but have the same effect. I highly recommend them!

That four horn set doesn't look to bad. I am willing to spend $250 on a horn, not $1500. I just need to find some space in the tC to put them.

Just remember that horn kit is just the horns. No air tank or compressors.
Look here for kits that have horns, tanks, compressors, and all you need to hook up

Oh and the system I chose came as a package deal (tank, compressor & horns).

Those $500 sets don't look too bad either (the ones with all the bits) I might even be willing to spend that much on it. It's worth the fun you'll have.

Just watch you local laws and cops. Because if you go around town scaring people you could get in trouble. And in some states say you go around hit the horn playing around and give some older person a heart attack and they die, then you could be held accountable for the death.
Now at a car show you are parked you are not on the road driving then they can't really do anything about it. Since you were not violating any laws.

That is a very good point. I have given some thought to that and I think the best solution would be a switched system. One designed so that you can flip a switch to alternate between the stock horn and the train horn. My co-workers friend has already set up a system on his truck where the compressor is switched. I would assume (based on what I know about electrical type things) that you could divert the horn button on the steering wheel to a toggle switch allowing you to select what horn you would like to use.

I just have a push button switch wired independently to the air horns. so have to push it to sound air horn and stock horn works as normal.

sounds like my kind of deal. So far I spent $50 for a 4 horn that a buddy of mine had for football games (local football, i am in texas. they would drag the compresser out onto the sidelines and blair that thing all night long).
I am still trying to hunt down a tank but as soon as I find a tank, I can get the hoses and connections for almost nothing.
