View Full Version : How much drop for a tC w/ Kaminari Body Kit?

I am looking for opinions on dropping my tC with a Kaminari Body Kit. I have had more than one mechanic recommend Eibach springs. Does it really make a big difference in the handling if I choose one manufacturer over another, taking into consideration the drop height? Eibach makes 2 different spring sets. The Sportline series drops are 2.0" and the Prokit series drops are 1.2". Would 2" be too much with this body kit? I paid too much for the kit to rip it off. Any other suggestions are always welcome. Thanks

if you're not careful you will F it up so yeah i'd go for the 1.2 or the h-techs which is around a 1.4 or so.

Go coilovers and set it for what looks and is best...

In this area, 2" would be too much. Try the TRD springs or go with coilovers that you can adjust.

I was told that the TRD's would settle to 2". The problem with coilovers is the cost. I need to divide my cash between the tC and the Fatboy. They are both screaming for more horsepower. I'm sure you can understand that Nick. From what I have seen on here, you are rather hungry. I think your potholes are worse way up there than they are down here in the South. Lol. If I had room for a compressor I would Air-Bag it.

You cant let cost be an issue..... If your going to put a kit on that cost some money.... Just keep saving and do it all right the first time..... Spend the money to do it right.

2" drop would be perfect. You just need to drive more carefully, and hit all exits/entrances at an angle as well as speed bumps. other than that, it will look sweet as hell!

and no the TRD springs dont settle to 2". i had them before. if that was the case, i wouldnt have any coilovers, i'd be content with a drop like that.

You dont wanna mess the kit up then you got to bag it to control height when needed..

Other then that you put coilovers on it and you set it to the right height for you.

well firstly, whats your budget? are you willing to sit it out to get coilovers? or do you think lowering springs will cut it for you?

i had Eibach Sportline springs on my 92 Prelude with full body kit on. if i stuck my foot under the front bumper it would hit the middle of my foot. thats how low it was, fuckin nice, lol.

but anyways, adjustable coilovers are the way to go, in terms of height adjustments and damper settings.

The roads are bad all around but yeah - 2" drop is too much. Even without a body kit. The TRD's that are on my car were purchased used, and pre-settled, and settled more. Plus the fact that I have the turbo on the front, i've got some additional weight in the front. I'm down around 1.75" drop right now.

Like Keith said - adjustable coilovers would be the best. That way you can adjust for looks and adjust for driveability.

I think it's more an issue of having too many toys. I try and spread the spare change around instead of concentrating on just one. The horror of ADHD! Having 5 kids ages 8-19 doesn't help either. Money Grubbers!!! Maybe if I tie a kid to the front bumper as a pothole spotter I could get some use out of them. I'll probably go with the coil overs and make the Harley wait a few months.
Thanks for everyones input.
