Use flat black mixed with clear and you can keep that flat black look forever. Love the idea!!

I really like the idea. I would be sure to talk to your local law enforcement just to make sure it is legal to do that. I can see it both ways. It is really cool though. Hope it works out for you.

if it causes any issues, all i have to do is put on some "out of service" signs and i'll be fine.

don't come to arkansas with that on there, they will arrest you in a new york second, alot of the cops round here use the star, and all of LR's drive black and white patrol car

i expect to run into some problems, but it's what i'm willing to deal with to do something different.

Yeh, but if you put on a "out of service" sign, then you really will be impersonating the real cops... LOL

I was actually thinking that as well. The "rent-a-cop" parking lot security guys have stuff like this on their vehicles, but they are also official security personnel. If it were me, I would probably get magnetic stars for the side of my car and just slap them on at shows. That way, I wouldn't have to deal with any cops that felt like being dicks, but would still have my police themed car.

the cops in my town are dicks anyways ;) i'm working on fine tuning the design and a few other things on my car to help with not getting in trouble.

they still run the star in NC and I like your idea but you are asking to get felonie charges. the only way to get around it would be to get a local sheriff to sighn of on it in writing or a magistrate. Thats it the laws in every state are very clear and they date back over 70 years on the books in every state you pull that graphic out your gonna go to jail my friend especially since 9/11 and the patriot act your toast. I am just being honest i still retain a department of justice license even though I have not been in that field in many years yo are asking for trouble bigtime. even the blue and black stickers if your not married to an officer your getting charged. they are anal about it. I would haowever suggest going with something milder like a tribute to 9/11 firefighters scion you would be an all around winner there or if you wanted to do an older ambulance look that would pass but your playing with fire if you do the cop thing.

I however can think of one way you could get away with it legally get involved with DARE and run the cop logo with the dare logo and you could pulll it off but you would have to be a member of dare and you would have to get written permission from them thats the only other way you could pull it off. Or do a fallen heroe's cop car scion with all the fallen officers names on it.

it's not the light colors you gotta worry about thats just the tip of the iceburg. just running th epolice star which is used by U.S Marshalls all across the counrty or running blue an black your going to get felonies and their not just going to hit you with impersonating an officer they will hit you with class B felonies that fall under the jurisdiction of the FBI and the Marshall service and your toast. I will however send you canteen money so you survive in prison it's the least I can do. I'm not being mean I am just seriousley trying to warn you I know what I am talking about and your talking multiple felonies unless you take the routes I suggested.

Putting it plainley if you don't go out of your way to either pay tribute in some way by kissing some serious booty or get involved with DARE your gonna get felonies and your car impounded.

One more thing all rent a cops your referring to have to have Department of Justice licenses just like regular cops whether they carry a gun or not so you better do your homework on this one.

There is a security car in Tulsa on 41st and sheridan that has the state trooper one on the side (its in the shape of oklahoma for those who do not know) and i confuse him for one all the time, very annoying. Checking with local PD is an apsolute must, my friend did something like that to his xA in BA and got pulled over the next day and was told to take it off.

i hate quoting myself, but it seems folks didn't see this. i am attempting to work with a local police chief on this.

nope, i will never do a tribute car. plain and simple.

when i did private security & carried a firearm i never had a Dept of Justice license.

I don't believe it would be illegal to have these graphics on a vehicle
unless you are using emergency lighting while operating the vehicle.
The only other concern would be if the graphics state law enforcement/
Police on them. I believe Best Buy has the Geek Squad black and white VW
Bugs with the generic badge on the side.

and since the graphics do not say Law Enforcement or Police on them, it looks like it's all good now.

let me interject this if yu are going to do it remember state troopers have jusrisdiction over your local sheriffs department. If you lived in NC I would get my cousin to sighn offon it for you as he is active duty.

That being said please get it in writing before you do it just in case you do get pulled.that way at least you can play dumb and have a legal defense. Also remember if you take your scion out of county where your local sheriff has jusrisdiction your in the crosshairs potentially all I am saying is you can do it but please cover your back in every scenario possible before doing this. you need to let that sheriff see the car and sighn off on it in person because he to can play dumb and believe me if it is between his neck on the chopping block and yours guess who's head is gonna role yours not his.
