1. get a good alarm like a viper alarm.

2. get secutity film installed on your windows

3. bolt all your audio to the frame if possible put amps under seats if possible.

5. most of the time people who steal your stuff are people you know my moto don't ever trust anyone except yourself when it comes to big money objects.

6. one of the best security devices that goes along with people is learn not to brag.

7. fabricate a bracket to the bottom of your subwoofer box that holds a can of pepper mace run fishing line to the frame. get the police size bottle they are referred to as crowd control bottles.you can buy them at police supply provided you are 21 and have a clean record.

8. look for new inexpensive gps technologies.

9. activate a prepaid cell phone don't use the minutes when you get out of the car cut it on and put it some place out of sight if your car is stolen your cell phone company along with the police can triangulate your car. this is poor mans GPS tracking my friends.

10. the last and most important thing to protect your car from theft. put a piece of electrical tape over the vin number in the front winshield. now nobody can see your vin and nobody will notice the tape. you may ask why cover the vin number. The reason is anybody can write down your vin number and go to a dealership and pose as a repo man or just say they lost their key and the dealership can cut a key to the car on the spot through a computer. Ever wonder how hondas vanish into thin air this is how they were doing it for along time. protect your investment I hope this info helps out everyone.

the mace idea sounds kinda ghetto... but some pretty good info.

you may think it is ghetto but it's actually a well known technique that works very well somone pulls your box out of the car and a huge canister of mace goes off your stuff isn't going anywhere and neither are the criminals. this has been used for along time as a weapon to catch thieves. I also know some swat guys who put flashbangs on some of their stuff.

what you call ghetto the military uses all the time just not with car components.I'll post pics sometime of how I did mine I have two canisters inside the box both with ultra fine filament line you cannot see it. from the canisters you atach a rubber automotive hose and then a fine mist water sprayer like you use in lawn and garden or intercooler sprayers work great as well so do winshield wassher sprayers. so they have to get past the fact that it's bolted to the frame if they get past that then they have to get past SBI gun locks they get past that they have to deal with a good 3 minutes of tear gas fine mist.

some people would just rather file an insurance claim and raise their rates people like me go overboard with security and get even more innovation points at shows and if somone tried to steal my stuff there gonna be sitting beside the car gasping for air they are not going to be able to haul off a 275 pound box with the amplifier inside. when I get my Orion HCCA D5000 it will have to go in the trunk but it will be fitted the same way and you will never know it's there. I have already gutted out an old battery cap and slid the gas cylinder inside and I will atach it to the amp and nobody will know about the line going down into the trunk and I am leaving the led's intact putting the top back on and sealing it after I drill and tap the backside hole for the fogger nozzle. I guess thats why my car takes many awards because everything I do is done down to the finest detail. whether it be security suspension audio brakeing and now working on the power.

Bottom line is your car is most likley to be broken into by somone you know thats the statistics. If it is a stranger 95 percent chance they are going to get your vin. some of you guys don't have alot dropped into your cars but most of you do and I don't think takeing some steps to protect your investment is overboard by any means. I don't think alot of people take automotive security seriousley enough and then there are people like me who don't make a fortune and prefer to keep my insurance rates low so I spend the extra time and the extra 40 bucks to safeguard what I have as best I can.

Car theft is through the roof in my area and you want to know something the only reason I still own my R32 skyline is because of the teargas. My car was broken into twice in the past two years and both times the police made apprehention on the scene. I will also go ahead and say I still currentley hold my NC department of Justice license even though I am disabled by a drunk driver I still keep my license and I use every tactic and precaution at my disposal.

I don't expect everyone to be able to take these steps or all of these steps but they are good tips that can and do help especially the vin number. but the pepper mace has saved my skyline twice now the bill to get all that crap cleaned was 100 dollars each time but it's alot better then my insurance rates going up and if you didn't know if your car gets broken into enough not only do your rates go up or you get dropped from insurance they start investigating you and refuse to pay for claims so if your in a high crime area like me you better take the steps to protect what you own whether it be your car your house ect.

I am one of the most serious people when it comes to security. If anyone needs help or advice I am always here to help in any way that I can feel free to message me. I wrote this post to try to help people avoid being a victim how far they want to go with theri security is up to them but things like the club for the steering wheel do not work. A hacksaw and two minutes and you have cut through the wheel and can pulll it through.

Security is a subject that is rareley touched on in depth and believe me some of the guys in the club like me who have tons of time and lots of sponsored parts and money in theri cars I thik will appreciate some of the steps listed here because I think I went from mild to wild but I did not post anything I have not done myself.

just imagine somone takeing your ride after years of work and money it's not a pretty site when insurance usually only pays book value and your left upside down in a loan without gap insurance thats why I say secure your ride as best you can.

I still think the mace idea sounds a little overboard....even for us crazy Scion owners.

And you may want to check on the cell phone triangulation idea. My mom had a cell phone stolen a few months back. It was a pretty new phone and I suggested that she ask the phone company if they could triangulate it. The phone was in use, but the phone company said that they can't do that. Highly specialized equipment has to be brought in to do that. In search and rescue missions, it is worth it....to recover a stolen purse, it isn't (according to the phone company).

yeah I could have listed the whole gun thing but alot of people have so many misconceptions about when you can and cannot legally use deadley force. It also varies from state to state laws and regulations.

I tried to list some practicle steps for people to take to protect their cars security wise. The bottom line is if somone wants it bad enough they are going to get it there are too many smart people out there to figure out ways to do things. The things I listed are all easy to do and affordable even the security film tint combo is only 400 bucks. Tear gas is a legal very effective deterent and it won't land you in jail for life or get you on death row so I am going to leave the tips at that and stay totally away from the gun issue.

I personally think protecting your VIN number is the easiest safest way to keep your whole car from getting stolen I hope the tips help some of you out. There were a record number of cars taken in ths manner last year so it is a issue that needs to be raised and brought to everyone's attention. People need to be aware how powerful that vin number is in the wrong hands.
