JL vs. ED

After getting my wheels, I'm preparing for my new project....My audio set-up....

The goal of my setup is go get good overall sound with some punch.. I dont want to be running mad bass.

So, I was thinking about going with a full ed setup....

Mainly going with 6500's and sq10 with tcbox running a nine4.

But Now i'm thinking going w/ JL audio

From JL I'm thinking 300/4 amp, 10w3v3 and xr650-csi.

The box for the w3 would be a sq10 style box but just raising the floor. For the amp I'm going to a false floor with cut out to show the amp in center. Now matter what I'm going to edead the car...

So What are pro and cons of either set-up..

Advantages of eD:
- Free tech support for life
- 5 year warantee
- good price point
- proven performance
- great sound quality

Advantages of JL
- Good name

Disadvantages of eD
- Doesn't hit as hard as some people like but the sq of the speakers more than makes up for it

Disadvantages of JL
- Extremely expensive considering the pricepoint of eD
- 1 year warantee
- oh yeah.... expensive

I got to hear a JL stealthbox setup last weekend at a show and I must say, I was not impressed at all. I have a single SQ-10 in my car in a custom box under my hatch mat and I thought it sounded much better than the JL. Plus, the floor looked pretty fugly because of how it has to be raised.

Save yourself some money and get ED. Besides, ED is pretty prevelant in the Scion community, working on products for our cars, helping people out with wiring, etc. I have yet to see any JL banners on Scion sites showing their support of the brand.

JL has always been know for their quality products, but I've only used their upper end of woofers so I don't know how they compare to the upper end of eD. And yeah, JL can be pretty pricey.
The box in my b I had made by the guys at eD and it's top notch! They custom made it for my JL 12W6v2, and were awsome people to talk to and were more than willing to do this for me. :up:

Whichever you decide on, I'm sure that you'll be very happy!

yeah well I say support the smaller american company JL orion dircted electronicks audiobahn all the stuff rockford is made in taiwan or korea. thats why I give my vote to elemental desighn and other american audio companies that haven't sold out over the years. yeah I use an orion amp but my subs are hand made in GA so I say go with the american company thats not commercialized and will stand behind their products. just my 2 cents on this one.

by the way elemental desighn does have two sets of high spl subwoofers for sale they custom made them for a guy and he backed out I dunno if they are still there but when I was goig to upgrade to 15's they offered them to me for 200 a pair. there might be a deal to be had. I also know in the future they will be coming out with some great spl stuff it's in the works. elemental desighn has some real good staff. I didn't buy their 15's because I got a better deal used with a box but I think they are worth your attention. I love my subs made by funkin audio they too are small but hey do not have the customer service like elemental desighn so I don't recomend them to people. Even though they make some awesome 15's.
