So I've had this vision on what I wanted to do to my xA before I ever ordered it. Of course by the time I got it (October 17, 2006) I wanted to wait until spring for mods. It was a sign when I got my tax return five days before the Adam's Show in Kansas City. So Jason at Toyota of Des Moines helped get me some tires for my rims at the last minute which look awesome. But the best thing is when I called James at Graphics Underground (Precision Tint and Graphics) in Cedar Rapids around noon on Friday and he said he'd have time for me at 2:30. So I drove 2 hours and he cut my stars out and a rear window banner. It was awesome to finally see what I had Photoshopped months ago come to life. I loved the reactions I got at the Adam's Show and can't wait for more money for more mods!

Yes, we WILL be lowing it ASAP. We know it looks like a monster truck haha. That is next on the mod list. By the way, she won first place at the Adams Show for Best xA.

LOL, I tried and tried to convince her to bag it but she won't budge. She just wants it lowered a bit with some springs.

No matter how hard you try, I won't budge. I want it lowered just so that it doesn't look like a monster truck. I can't wait until she gets lowered!

my xA suspension thread might help you out my recomendation is either TRD springs which will settle to 2 inch drop after about a year or meagan racing springs as they ar ethe strongest and the cheapest of the bunch. If yo don't have a bad back and like hard cornering you'll love the meagans they ride a bit to hard for me. anyway see if you can find some toyota echo kyb racing struts they are tough to locate on the net be prepared to look for a few hours. or go to the echo forums but for 200 bucks they are awesome. I like the rims

i probably should have got an xA.. LESS COMPETITION. I've spent over 10k on my tc and haven't even come close to winning in any category.

You're trading for an xA?
I agree, the competition for the tC is great. You just have to be unique, do mods to your tC that make you happy and the trophies will come.
If you have any cards up your sleve, perhaps now would be the time to pull them out.

meh if you do this stuff to win you're doing it for the wrong reason.

Exactly. Winning is nice, but I go to shows just to hang out with fellow Scion lovers and chat about our cars. That is the best part of shows for me. Chatting with owners, getting ideas for my own car, checking out new mods, etc.

Yeah, I agree. If you are just dumping money into your car just to win trophies... what are you going to think in five to ten years when you have spent thousands of dollars to deck out your car? I would rather know that I got to know my Scikotics family, had a great time being a part of this club, and got some ideas from other Scions. Trophies are just pieces of wood, yeah they are nice, but that's all they are. The memories of all the great meets and shows is what is really going to matter down the road.

OK OK... I KNOW! I never said that was the ONLY reason i do it.. but it would be nice to get SOME type of recognition for all the work you do.. ya know! The reason i started this whole thing was to get to know people that had the same interests as me.. and to hang out at meets, and shows. It's been a blast meetin' all the SCIKOTIC peeps.. AND people from other clubs and show. It's amazing how many people have the same ideas and interests.. AND just the fact that i get to go out and just have fun talking to people is great! I know i come off sometimes like i only do this to win, but if that was the case i wouldn't have even started. I KNOW i don't have the funds to compete with all the big clubs, companies and lil rich boys & girls that show their cars at these things... its just nice to get some recognition and respect for the time and money you put into your ride.. even if you haven't dumped 80K into it!
Ok, just wanted to clear that up, cuz im REALLY not ALL about winning.. but eventually it would be nice to get that far. I still love hanging out with the family, so a little "disappointment" from not winning isn't going to make me stop showing.. HOWEVER i have learned to stick to smaller shows.. just not ready for the huge ones..

I was going to big shows last year with my nearly stock car. I didn't care, I just wanted to be there. I got to big, small, medium, etc. shows and enjoy almost all of them. Yes, you are more likely to win at a small show, but there is a lot more ideas you can harvest and people to meet at larger shows.

agreed but at the same time like you can't go to shows expecting to win. you'll only let yourself down.
and it doesn't help you live in cali.

ya, theres even MORE competition cuz it's SOCAL. I mean, everyone and their mother has a pimped out ride! haha.. i dont really EXPECT to win anymore.. i didnt know any better for the first few shows i went to.. but now that i know whats out there.. i have realized that people dump their freakin' savings into their cars (AND GET SPONSORED) sooo theres not really a way to compete with most of them on a REGULAR budget.. theres alsways someone that goes BIGGER and BETTER! winning is like a secondary thing now..
