Hello everyone,
My name is Tony Khauv and I am representing Meng Motorsports. For those that do not know of us, we are small family owned company dedicated to providing terrific customer service and prices on our products. We have two company TC's as well and are pretty familiar with the vehicle =).
I understand that our website does not have every TC part available listed. So please, in this thread tell us what you want so we don't waste time adding poor selling products!
You can also post reviews and any testimonials about us or our products =).
We carry mostly any performance and lighting product for Scions. Electronics aren't available yet, but we do expect to sell them soon. Shipping is also just $5.00 for any order!

Yup! Price is going to increase after this month.

Thanks! We are trying to increase our lineup or products, so visit us often!

Glad to see you here! haha this forum seems to be a bit more busy than the one I met you on.
Like I said, Tell Us What You Want! It's not everyday that you see a business ask their customers what parts are hot =). We believe customer recommendations and opinions are important so we try to keep everything noted. Mishimoto products will added next on our plans.

do you have a Megan Racing Header? i believe its a 4-2-1
mengsta
11-17-2009, 02:22 AM
Megan Racing Header will be added! I'm surprised we don't have that up. We have a decent account with Megan. I'll keep it noted and get it added once we get back in the office.
mengsta
11-17-2009, 02:46 AM
Just got it added. The Megan is listed as a 4-1. I don't believe they made a 4-2-1 model. From what I know only Tsudo and Weapon-r makes the 4-2-1 model. Still can't beat our Megan prices though!

Two things that come to mind that I'm looking into for next season that arent listed is a harness bar. I think Weapon R makes one, and Hotchkis sway bar set.

As for products, the XB2 products are listed in the same category with XB1's in the "XB" category. XB products are still in the works, so if you did have some products in mind, let us know! I'll try to add them up ASAP.

Seat belt harness bar? I'll try to add that soon! We are planning to get add our lineup of seats, so the harness bar will definitely go along with it. As for hotchkis, we don't even have an account with them. We'll have to contact them soon. But we do have other sway bar companies such as Tanabe, Progress, Suspension Techniques, and H&R.

I do not believe Greddy makes an exhaust header for TCs. The only headers that comes to mind that we can get are the Megan, DC sports, and Weapon-R. We have an account with Fidanza! I'll try to set up the products up by this weekend!
DeadCannon (http://www.scikotics.com/forums/member.php?u=13783)
I'm personally not a fan of the billet ones either, I'll try to see if I can get others, but I doubt it. grills are pretty down on our list.

x2 on Carbon fiber products diffinately a CF headliner.
mengsta
12-09-2009, 04:36 AM
That's actually a good idea. I'll note the carbon fiber headliner. Keep in mind that we are on other forums and we appreciate all customer feedback. We are trying our best! So I can't promise these products being added the next day =(.
rstc120 (http://www.scikotics.com/forums/member.php?u=13796),
Yeah five axis lip kit rocks!
STARK_INDUSTRIES (http://www.scikotics.com/forums/member.php?u=1180),
I definitely understand where you are coming from though haha. Everyone has their own preference. RS lips are definitely nice, but they are doing great selling it themselves on their website. I don't think it would be best if we started carrying it.
We just started carrying TC cubby panels and are working on updating it with new designs. So we'll be a little busy with that. New carbon fiber products are actually a good idea. Thanks again for the input!
If you could do CF stuff like http://www.shop.retro-spec.net/category.sc?categoryId=22 these cats but add in things like headliner and full side panels that would be tits. If you could make a full CF waterfall or aluminum waterfall I am sure more than one person would purchase it. Also carrying something like AMSOIL for the turbo guys.
NOBODY makes a full waterfall replacement only those vinyl or cf stick on's...
If you could get the ZPI trick shift kit for the autos you could make some coin. Those things were so rare they are all but gone. IPT and Level10 are hella expensive and have no customer service because they are not part of the community.
mengsta
12-10-2009, 02:24 AM
Yeah we tried working with carbon fiber companies in the past, they all just require large buy-ins. I'll definitely keep it noted though and try to expand our carbon fiber lineup in the future.
Meng Motorsports is a small family owned business. We definitely appreciate all this feedback in helping us grow.
Hmm I'm not too familiar with trick shift kits, can you explain a bit more?

Just got an update: we are actually expecting to partner with that carbon fiber company. We will try to work with them and expanding the carbon fiber line up.

On old domestics it used to mean better oil with extra additives for the automatic, then it developed in to meaning oil + filter + manual valve body. Now it sorta encompasses a assortment of goodies to make the automatic a bit stronger and faster... I believe ZPI had new clutch packs, filter, oil, and a few new resistors. If you could find out the resistor mods that the import guys are using you could do a simple resistor mod + oil + filter + cooler for half the cost of a valve body upgrade and get almost the same results. Right now IPT and Lvl10 have some upgrades for the transmission but they are not specifically for the Scion so they are not that great and cause alot of issues (like the need for a transmission controller on built and semibuilt trannys).
mengsta
12-14-2009, 06:59 PM
Oh wow Thanks for the explanation Hix. Its good to learn new things.
I'll have to have someone look into that. I believe Scion's don't come with a tranny cooler at all, correct? So a kit with higher performing oil and cooler would definitely be a cool product to have. We aren't looking into manufacturing so we'll have to try to contact these other companies to see if they are willing to do it. No promises, but I'll definitely have it down. Thanks.

We looked into Tsudo, but i doubt we will carry it. I know the price of those exhausts are enticing, but there are a lot higher quality products out there. If you are looking into something at a low price, Megan is usually pretty good for the price.
XD2O (http://www.scikotics.com/forums/member.php?u=11181)
Haha yes we are active supporters, we take pride in our customer loyalty. We are actually slow on adding XD products, I sincerely apologize haha. But which products are you most interested in for the XD? If its a product line that we already carry (IE: Magnaflow, Tanabe etc, we will add it on the website ASAP. Let us know! That is what this thread is for. We have a huge product line, its posted on our website. It just takes time adding products and we would rather get recommendations before wasting our time adding a product that doesn't sell.

Military discounts is definitely something we want to do. But as of right now our products are already listed so low that we can't discount any further. We do appreciate and definitely respect our military members.

Simple military ID would be the easy answer, but with havin a vast customer base all over the states. Maybe they could fax a copy of there Mil. ID before the transaction is complete. IDK that one is tough now that I think of it. Nonetheless I would except anything less than an ID from the customer. If they are in fact in the service they would have no problem going through that process. I know I wouldnt, but that my opinon.

I handled your inquiry and my designer hasn't gotten back to me with a sample yet. He said its no problem, but he will need to scale the "speed racer" down a bit so it will fit nicer. Right now we have the Greddy kit for boost, but we are definitely trying to get more. We talked to our carbon fiber dealer and that roof spoiler you showed won't work. I believe it blocks the pathway for our TC hatch to open. We are going to think of another design that still looks nice. No promises though, just some discussion.

Ive seen a lip version for the tC of this type of spoiler. Pretty sure it was CF.. I tried to search for where I saw it, but no luck.. I think its an accessory for a lip or body kit.. Its only on one site, figures I can't find it... Ill post it up if I do...

Think a couple guys on YSTC use an M3 style lip spoiler for a Cobalt from eBay for their roof spoiler. Engi or Blue or Doc. Iso, I can't remember exactly but it was one of the big boys, said that when they drive in the rain that the air seems to focus down to the rear spoiler better.

Lol sorry no louvers =(. I checked, but none of our current suppliers carry them.
Ghost, I don't think the hood dampers are recommended for use with the hatch. Sorry. If your hatch struts are weak, then your best bet is to just go back to Scion/Toyota and get new ones. They might even have them at a local parts store.
If you could find someone to make a top bracket for a shock you could do the hood damper yourself pretty cheap. I have wanted to do it forever but I am one lazy fat bast'd

Ghost, if you cant get them from Meng, try TRD Sparks.. They usually can get any factory part at some discount over the dealership.. They are a great sponsor to support! If you do decide to DIY, just be careful that you do it correctly.. You wouldnt want that hatch to fall on your head!!!

HAha yeah so sorry everybody, no louvers =[.
I'll keep that in mind about fabbing our own damper, thats actually a great idea. But since we are just family owned, we are limited to manpower. We are trying our best to upgrade our line-up but its coming along slowly.
Some new stuff would be our carbon fiber lineup. We just added these last week. We have carbon fiber rear garnishes, mirror covers, B-pillars, etc! Check us out, everything still ships at $5.00.

UPDATE: March upgrade will have slight price increase.
In order for us to continue giving our awesome customer service and products, we need to have a mandatory price increase. Not to bash on any other companies, but us and Operatic knows very well that we cannot sell HID kits at a super low price near what you see on Ebay for example. We cannot sell kits at $40 (random number) and still follow through with our customers. Squallheart (<-doesn't know I'm mentioning him) can definitely lecture you on how sellers that sell products that low will most likely not follow through on their "lifetime warrantys". When you call, they are nowhere to be found. Anyway not all sellers are like this, that is just an example.
So why are we upping the price? Unlike most businesses, we aren't going to raise the price just to have more profit. We are upgrading our HID kit procedures.
-3 year warranty instead of 2. (previous customers will automatically have a 3 year from purchase date)
-NEW boxes. Previous customers will understand why our kits are priced so low, yet have AMAZING quality. Our boxes were standard boxes. We now have larger boxes which will protect the kits more effectively during shipment.
-Priority Mail Medium boxes. We are going to ship our boxes with priority mail which is rated at a speedy 1-3 business day delivery! We are going to use the medium size box to accommodate for our larger product boxes. This will also allow us to properly pack each and every shipment with bubble wrap.
I thought it would be right to share this with customers. Price is going up in March, so buy the kits now! Every kit placed from now on, will have these upgraded practices, but at the original price! Each kit is going to take longer for us to package and the initial shipping cost will be higher for us, I hope everybody understands that we must do this.
Price: We are still calculating on what is an effective price to increase it at. I cannot name a figure, but it wont be a major increase. We are also going to set up coupon codes for forum members, so the increase won't even be that big.

NRG Hood damper kit just arrived. And the verdict is in on wether or not you need to drill.
No, not for the OEM application. It is bolt on. The one I got.
As for the CF, FRP, or non OEM hood application, probably needs drilling. I didnt order that kit so I dont know what the directions say. But im sure you would drill 6 holes max, all the same size.
DIY to come...

REALLY! Try bolting it up like in the following pic and it's bad news. Maybe I didn't word it right in the RS 5.0 thread but this was my issue with it. And they could bump up the pressure of the damper some too as it does not aid with lifting up the hood like the dampers of the rear hatch.
http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/7074/file0408.jpg (http://img34.imageshack.us/i/file0408.jpg/)
Drill the hole out some until it sits flush like so and you can then properly tighten the bracket down.

I just got HID's and NRG Hood dampers... And I still want more stuff.. lmao...
NRG Hood Damper OEM kit is bolt on, no drilling is necessary. All you need is a 7/16 washer to go between the bolt and ball hinge..
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww46/The12Die4/cid__20100215015856.jpg
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww46/The12Die4/cid__0214101307-00.jpg
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww46/The12Die4/cid__20100215015747.jpg
By adding the extra washers behind the hinge, it creates a little more space for the damper. So it doesnt dent the inside of the hood..
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww46/The12Die4/RS%205%20tC/cid__0214101310-00.jpg
If you use the extra washers, the hood will prop a little..

From their website:
This product fits for year 2005+ Scion TCs. Product is used to completely prop up the hood by a shock rather than the old fashioned hood prop stick. Two types of hood dampers are available; one for lightweight hoods and one for heavier OEM hood. Please specify which hood in the drop box.
Your answer probably stemmed from people using too strong of dampers on a light hood, too much force against the mount point.

Thanks for the support and inquiries everybody! I really appreciate it.
We have tons of accounts with manufacturers so getting mesh grilles and hood latches are no problem! If you need them ASAP don't hesitate to send a PM or email for a price inquiry. It's a whole other story when adding products to the website though =].
ALL PMS have been replied to!
As for the NRG hood damper, Yes to confirm NRG does make a model for lighter hoods =]. We do have a drop down option for two different models.
The Hood latches and grilles should be up after our MEgan lineup and Wheels are done.
We've been pretty busy with new updates, so I do apologize for not being able to get these new products mentioned added up as fast as I want to.
Some updates:
-We did a hammer test video on our HID kits! Video should be uploaded to our website and youtube within a few days.
-We are almost done with a step-by-step instruction video on HID installation
-Designing shirts.
-Still working on our wheel lineup.
-XB panels.

Thanks for the orders and support everbody!
Butcher, NO PROBLEM at all about ordering from anybody else. Unfortunately we don't have an account with Redline at the moment anyway. As for HID kits, we frequently get calls for troubleshooting from people that run other brand kits! We don't mind at all. As long as customers are happy and safe =].
Thanks for the support everyone. We have a facebook account so you can Fan us or find my personal account and see pics of the family. We don't hide anything and try to be as honest and helpful as possible. Yes we do understand how important each and every customer is. The reason is not just because we can't afford an unhappy customer, but also we just enjoy keeping our customers happy, so it's an easy priority for us =].
12die4,
We actually carry JPUSA Products =]! We just aren't listed as an authorized distributor because we don't stock enough to qualify =[. However we are authorized dealers for ANYTHING you see on the website and more. Eibach, Tokico, and skunk2 are just a few examples or websites that do have us listed on their page, just not JPUSA at the moment. I will PM you a price, I'm sure we can beat it.
Dropzone,
We feel your pain haha. We are tight on funds too and its hard to figure out how to effectively spend it toward the business. I would personally pick suspension. Lip and body kits are definitely awesome, but a new suspension will literally make the TC feel like a different car. Trust me on that one =]
Updates:
We've been a bit slow on replies and we are very sorry, BUT! we do have an excuse. We finally did a hammer test video and a instructional video on our HID Kits! We are aalso now an accreditted business for the Better Business Bereau! Visit us on BBB.org!

QuickLIFT systems work with any hood (steel, fiberglass, SMC, carbon fiber etc.) - we design our systems using the stock hood so the main market is covered, however, our systems are made to work with 99% of aftermarket hoods. No extra parts are required.

i am aware of this, that is why i want to ask about this redline one cause the site says oem, carbon fiber, etc, etc and that threw me off cause i know they have different pressure in the dampers and if you get a strong one you will just rip your hood in half

Yeah we looked into carbon fiber headliners. We found another store called topshopparts selling headliners at $650 shipped. We don't think we can make a headliner and sell it at $650 while keeping everything high quality. We'll try though, I'll update you guys if we do go on it =].
Vogtland is a great company and we used them on one of our RSX vehicles. We have an account with them, but our discount is low so we havnt updated it on our website yet. Right now a lot of other sites can beat us on the price.
TRD TC,
I dont know how to apologize, but what happened in our case is very surprising and depressing lol. Basically, to anyone who wanted those NRG lightweight hood dampers, they are no longer available.... NRG's website descriptions are oudated to about 3 years.. So the description may not be exact. Basically the titanium model is for OEM hoods and the carbon fiber hood damper is for lightweight hoods. Only one type for each damper... but in the TC case, both dampers are rated at the same pressure. So booo on them, we can't do anything about it. I do think Redline carries lightweight models, I'll see if we can get them.

I like the help that members are giving eachother. I will definitely see what I can get from redline.
