Is it possible to have the TRD supercharger along with the ZPI stage 0 turbo on the same engine? I was just curious... Would that be overkill? Is it possible? What, theoretically (If it hasnt been done), would happen? Just curious...

It's been done, but it's completely useless. It's only been done for a show car, so you can't see it actually running.

It's a really stupid concept, though. Running a Centrifugal type supercharger with a turbocharger just plain doesn't work to any benefit.

If it was a roots type supercharger, then there would be some benefit, but there isn't room for that under the hood.

Actually, there is a HUGE benefit to this technology. Why do more people NOT use it, because they dont' know how to make it work properly.

I build a 1986 Toyota MR2 (4agze) Factory Supercharged unit. This unit was a positive displacement supercharger (i.e. roots style.) What is so unique about this unit??? It basically had an A/C compressor clutch installed on the front of the supercharger to disenguage, and stop the S/C from overboosting.

How do you Twin Charge an engine, and what are the benefits. By utalizing this set-up, you can run a MUCH larger turbo than you originally though you could get away with. From a stop light, you launch it, and the supercharger spins up, making INSTANT boost and torque, once you hit a pre-determined RPM, you unhook the supercharge (turn the power off, so it won't spin anymore) at that specific RPM (ideally) your turbo will be at it's boosting point, and you ride on the turbo to the end.

This is very difficult to build, set-up, and make it work... but I assure you this is possible. Easy? NO, but possible. I took a built 4agze on slicks in a gutted MR2 into the low 11's with this set-up. There was MORE in this car, but it was 100% streetable. We also utalized a FAST system to tune and manage the engine.

If nothing else, it would sure as hell have the "gee whiz" factor.

Doesn't the European Golf have a twin charger system?

Sorry - I meant it's a really stupid concept with the tC. With a Roots style SC it would work great.

don't they make VWs which have a similar setup?

Again, this would only work with a roots style supercharger. A turbo with a centrifigal supercharger is completely useless.

And even if we had a Roots style S/C'er for the tC, I still think it's a stupid idea, especially when there are 443whp 470+wtq tC's on just a turbo.

i've wanted to twin charge my car for the longest time but the only time that it would benefit you is if you have a v8 or bigger!
