1. this thread is to help you buy legitimate real japanese license plates and help you stay away from fakes so here is all the knowledge I have ok.

2. First if there is a black trim around the outside of the plate it is fake.

3. if the plate has your car name on it it is fake.

4. on the white plates if the letters are black it is fake they are actually a dark dark green and the yellow dealer plates have dark dark green writing as well best question to ask a seller when the plate is in question is what color is the writing if the answer black say look real close if they say black it's a fake.

5. In japan the plate stays with the car for the entire life of the car so look for scuffs and marks of usage if a plate looks new it's probaley a fake.

6. well whats the value of plates you ask . the lower the bottom number the higher the value and dealer plates are worth more than any white plate no matter the numbr the most valuable plates are low number dealer yellow plates.

Thats the best advice I can give you on buying plates theri are tons of faks that are sold on ebay and reproduced knockoffs made in hong kong be very careful where you buy from. most people don't care when buying a plate but if you really want to do well at shows every small atttention to detail makes a big diffrence. I hopes this helps you make educated decisions when purchasing japanese license plates.
