What is the different between the two? Also replacing the OEM "midpipe" with an aftermarket S Pipe or Downpipe, will that cause it to fail on emissions? Plannin on getting a new one with my HKS Hi Power exhaust.

P.S. this is on a tC

:thx:

Your car already fails emissions man since you put the headers on thats why you keep getting the Check Engine Light.:?

Just go for it and swap everything out you have five years before you need to worry about emissions in AZ anyways:coolp:

No as in replace the s pipe and mid pipe if you new exhaust doesn't come with it.

then sometime in the next 5yrs. go to a exhaust shop and have them relocate your 02 sensor behind the cat converter (or buy one with a bung in it magnaflow sells them) and you will be good to go

was that big hunk of metal near the bottom of my stock header a cat converter? and i dont think the HKS hi power comes with any piping since its only axle back.

yes that was a cat. you could also use the anti-fouler trick to get rid of a CEL

i am doin the anti fouler thing soon.
soo the recap is..

if i took my stock headers out that had a cat and installed headers without one, then bought an axle back exhaust, and bought an S pipe, the cat in the exhaust should pass me thru the emission test in 5 years right

yeah. or you could delete the cats. save your stock stuff. take 45 min to throw it all back on, do the inspection, and then put all the aftermarket stuff back on and make more power. just a thought

No it will fail unless you relocate your 02 behind the existing cat or actually are one of the 25% that get the anti foulers to work.

In AZ they run your car on a little dyno with it plugged in to your obd2 port if your CEL is on or if you have recently reset it it will fail.
