Ok so I have had my system in my xb for a while now......but with the RS 3.0 head unit there was no outputs to run any amps too......So we use a high level to low level lead (I believe that's what it was called)
Any way it had speaker wires on one end and then rca inputs on the other with a box in the middle.....
My question is: Right now you can hear a LOT of engine noise....Well that's what I think it is.....Kinda like a light whine.........
So is there ANY thing I can use that would be a better fix????
I don't want to get rite of that head unit simply because I have the dvd screens and plus I don't want to lose my steering wheel controls.....
ANY ideas????

bro I'll be straihgt up with you I tried the same thing when I first got my scion and the problem is the hgih low converters these days are cheap garbage they are not like the ones in the late 80's to early 90's when that was one of the only options for alot of cars. your just gonna have to let go of the steering wheel controls and get a nice head unit i have a nice pioneer with a remote but looking back now I wish I had gone with alpine and I will probley switch back to alpine. you just can't use a high low on the scion I tried four diffrent current brands they all did the same mess.hate to be the bearer of bad news but thats my experience with them.

i was using one on my tC without a problem. make sure the box isn't close to any power cables and you may have to ground it (mine had a ground wire). what you hear is the alternator.
good luck

Thats wierd. But my power cable is on the driver side while the RCAs run on the passenger side. Did you do the same?
hmmm. i used one when i had my stock RS3 deck. it had no problems. dont know what to tell you...

maybe I just had crappy luck with mine I dunno but thats what I was told that the wires weren't shielded like the old ones were.

it also varies on brand there are stil crap ones and good ones like back in the day but most of them you still get alt noise from them like posted above try grounding the converter and also rerouting your rca's away from any pwr carring source and it should help and by the way i believe they are making interfaces to keep steering wheel controls with aftermarket radios for scions now ill have to see if i can find the link

you got a ground loop going. change your ground or get a ground loop isolator. i would start with changing your ground, with the isolator you will loose some sound but it should deaden the alternator whine.
Hey anyone here play burnt movies in there RS3 mine all seem to play out of synch in the Box but at home they are fine.. and sorry for the thread jack...

Yes, you need a ground loop isolator http://www.bcae1.com/glisoltr.htm
Never tried a burnt disk in the 3 yet. :ponder:

I would like to just give you both a roud of applause for buying an RS 3.0 even if you do use a converter and get ti to work right it's still not gonna be exactley the same as if you had a good deck and had a built in equilizer and subwoofer controls ect. If you can get it to work that would be awesome cause that is what I wanted to do with my XA originally if you can't get it to work I would recomend and alpine radio they are the best in my opinion for sound quality. or you could buy last years model pioneer with a remote which is what I have in my car the pioneer DEH-P5800MP is an outstanding radio fro 169 bucks and has a built in EQ full subwoofer controls and all theose diffrent cool lookeing display modes it's also a non motorized deck which is a good thing because thats one less thing to break over time. If you do get it to work and work right please post the brand of converter you used and how you solved the problem because I too am in love with the steering wheel controls and if I ever get rid of my two 15's in my little tiny XA that replaces the back seat I might just go back to the factory deck and use a converter.

Go to that website and get a sub amp adapter for our head units..My sound system ran just fine after I bought one of these!!! I also have the RS3 stereo with Rockford Fosgate Amp and 2 10's in the back!!!

I read somewhere though that swapping out the head units made the head rest tvs not work anymore, that may be why he hasn't swapped it

might be true only the owner is goinna be able to unhook the factory radio and see if the tV's still work or not it's just a couple screws and a few plugs to find out. I'm pretty sure a good installer could get the Tv's back owrking with an aftermarket unit but hey what do i know I don't own a 3.0 i would jst like to see somone actually get a converter to work right.

I haven't switched it because I don't have the money to get a different one.....But i don't think it really matters because there are a lot of people that have had problems with there screens not working anyways
