I want to bring up a hot topic this issue has swirled around forums for along time with not a whole lot of definitive answers. so I am going to try to clear up some of the myths. ok who makes pullies that are lightweight agency power, perrin, and some other company I am not familiar with who primarily sells on ebay their pullies have a flame pattern.

For this writeup I am going to stick with the two most popular pullies agency power and perrin. Ok so lets get into them first who makes the lightest of the two pullies? answer Agency power who's pulley is the least expensive out of perrin and Agency power? Agency power. So why by a Perrin you might ask well some people like the name on a part your never going to see and some manual drivers like a bit more downshifting capability. Fact Who owns Agency Power? The parent company for agency power is Vivid Racing they are more likley to cut you a break just keep in mind their distributors get priority on shipments. If you could care less about the color they ship out rather quickley and they give nice price breaks.

Question? Will a lightened pulley shorten the life of my engine the answer is no there are echo's running these pullies who have wel over 200k on their cars with no problem of course the echo guys seem to go for the underdriven NST pullies.

Question? does my factory pulley act as a dampener to a point yes it acts as a dampener to the point of controlling excess noise. the rubber ring you have seen displayed all over forums only goes four milimeters into the stock pulley and it does make the car a little less noisy.

Question? Is there anything wrong with my factory pulley Answer no but it is not completley in balance like a precision machines part like you get from Agency power or Perrin.

Question: who sould run crank pullies: it's a good question my personal belief is only major gains are shown on the automatic scions from pullies and they give huge gains on the automatics. i believe if you own a manual shave the flywheel get a better clutch you will be more happier in the long run especially if your going to boost.

Question: Are pullies rebadged by diffrent distributors yes some perrin ones are=zpi

Question How hard is a pulley to install. Answer it depends on your mechanical skills and whenther it's a manual or automatic and whether you have more room to work with the XB or whether it's tight with the XA with the XA it's a bear of a job and it is a two person job. Honestley I think it is better to pay a mechanic the 60-100 bucks to put it on for you.

Do i have to remove the alternator to loosen the tension on my belt: answer No you can loosen the adjuster screw and move it back nd fourth with a prybar just be careful or you will have to jack up that side of the car take off the wheel take out he whole plastic wheel well lining to get to the alternator bolt on the XA without an air wrench this is the only way to get enough tourque on the bolt to get it off. i prefer the pryabar method myself or my friend who is as strong as a gorrilla that works too.

I hope this expalins some of the pullies out there and helps you make educated buying decisions and lets you know what your getting into if you have an automatic thsi is a must do modification. If you have a manual you will regret not going the other route later because having both is not a good thing especially in a boost situation tey negate each other theoretically. it's just physics and i know my friend made that mistake on his WRX I do know underdriven and lightened flywheel does work but you really need to just go one way or another and I think with a manual you will be more pleased with a good clutch I dunno if SPEC makes clutches for scions but if they do they make some awesome kits and shaving the flywheel. Hope this info helps some of you guys out especially any new guys just getting into modding. if you have an automatic an Agency power pulley will unleash it it's the most important performance part you can buy natrually aspirated in my opinion

anytime thats three years of reading threads and personal experience as well from all diffrent forums and reviews. plus I know the manufactures personally of the perrin and power enterprise pulley. I just hope it helps people get over the rumors and the myths surrounding them.
