View Full Version : Asylum 07' | The East Coast's Big Entrance!

I'm thinking we should try and organize an East Coast Run to Asylum... Chapters all along the East coast would merge onto a centralized location further West... We would set a time and location, and because the unknowns associated with a long distance trip like this, we would give a window for the chapters individual caravans to reach the location. Once we all got to the location we would organize and move out.
Individual chapters need to organize their own meeting spots prior to their own departure. Be sure to take in account other chapters departure times, by doing this we will ensure that we all reach the location chosen around the same time.
Lodging. Is this going to be an issue? I dont know about the entire club, but I know my vehicle will have at least one co-pilot. Who plans on stopping for sleep? If so, when and where? These types of details need to be worked out now and arranged prior to this event to ensure that its set in stone.
Please tell me your ideas and suggestions! If your interested in making this happen, add your name to the roll call and lets get this thing organized... should be a blast! Lets show how the East Coast does it!

When I moved from Texas to Maryland it was the same amount of drive. Let me tell you....YOU WILL WANT TO STOP HALFWAY. After 10 hours of driving you will be tired. I think we should plan on staying at some sort of roach motel somewhere along the way. We should try to find the most grimey hotel we can hahahaha. But really lets get this going. Lets show them how the East Coast rolls.

I drove to OK from NY a couple times....lol
You're definitely going to want to stop somewhere. I usually drive a little more than halfway the first day, and stop around STL. Then Day 2 you only have @ 8 hours to go.
If you see one off the highway, the Drury Inns' are affordable, clean, well maintained, usually walking distance of decent food and have free wireless.

Mo, that is why I was thinking about meeting somewhere a lil further out West. I know at some point along the way we'll all meet up at some place where the highways merge... that place should be the location, but I'm not sure it'll be flawless. At least all the East Coast chapters could roll into Asylum as one. Like Heath said, it would be tight to have a bunch of Scions moving cross country! I know I am bringing my video camera... I am positive we will have some awesome photos for the rest of the club that doesn't make it...
Lets go ahead and get this thing started...
1. Individual Chapters need to go ahead and specify where you'll be leaving from, then MapQuest the trip (Starting point to Asylum) and post the directions with miles into the thread so we can all try and figure out a place that we can meet out West.
2. Once the location has been chosen, you'll then have to calculate how long it will take you to get to the location. Be sure to take into account at least an extra 45-75 mins at least for gas, rest stops, stretching, quick photos, etc. Whomever has the shortest trip based on time/distance will have to time their departure based off the next higher time/distance. This part is going to be critical so that we all merge onto the chosen location around the same time.
3. We need to figure out what day we'll leave, what time, etc. as a group...
4. We're going to need numbers for everyone that is going to unsure we stay connected. Please if you know at this time you'll be going, PM me with your name, number, chapter, model Scion & color. Once I get everyones numbers and information, I'll be making a flyer with all the important information on it so that you can have it for your trip cross country. The flyer will also include meeting spots and critical times that need to be met. Anything else I should include?
Anything I miss?

Saturday, June 9th is Asylum. I am guessing it'll take a day and a half, maybe two days to get there. We're probably going to be leaving MD on Thursday morning (7th), or maybe the night prior (6th). We're going to have to meet other members along the way, so it'll be a decent paced run, but nothing crazy!
I am going to have to take off on that Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday; possibly Wed depending on when we get back.
You have plenty of time to plan this thing and save. I think this thing when it all comes together is going to be off the hook.
Please keep ideas and suggestions flowing. Once the directions are posted up for each chapter, it'll be time to find a meeting spot and start a timeline for this event.

Alright, here is the route that MD members are going to take... unless of course there is a better route... My buddy told me that the route we're taking has tons of hills and mountains... that doesn't really bother me too much, makes for great photos and views.
We would still need to determine where we'd leave from that morning, I guess I would suggest down towards us Heath. Timmy and Diddy can come to us since we're going to be heading South first.
We'd start off on Rte. 5 heading towards Budds Creek. We'd go over the 301 bridge into VA, and then towards I-95S. We'd get off I-95 onto I-295N towards Charlottesville then onto I-64W. We'd stretch this highway out approx. 710 miles. This will leave us in the Illinois and Missouri area. We'd then take I-255S and continue on I-270N. We'd then get onto I-44W towards Tulsa which is going to be approx. 365 miles. Final destination is required before we get onto other smaller highways or roads. This is the general idea of what our trip is going to be like. I am assuming that we'd stop for some rest around KY or IN after driving all day Thursday. Friday we'd get up and continue into Tulsa, and from there would be up in the air.
Approx Distance: 1300 Miles Approx Time: 20 Hours
Once I get some other directions from others who are going to caravan to OK with us, we'll determine where we'll meet up at. I'm sure there maybe more than one leg of this run.
Lets go ahead and get a roll call started for those who think they want to try and catch the East Coast caravan into Asylum...

I have no intentions of pushin "Marcy" that far but yall should have everybody from the individual chapters meet up in Springfield, MO at the University Of Missouri Statium the day before that way yall dont loose anytime on the road waitin for anyone thats not coming or got that arested on the way trying to breakin there new trubo. (any body yall meet on the way can just fall in line) Im sure they have plenty of hotels and food place around at such a big football school. Then on the day of yall can roll into Talsa, OK and rep the EAST like you should......................................Spring field to Talsa is only like 3 Hours
Then burn 50 copies of The Imperial March "(Darth Vader (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darth_Vader)'s Theme)" and all roll up playing it. "you can leave the music part out"

I'm thinking that it'll have to be somewhere along the way during the second day of travel... it appears that I-44W would be a great place to meet up one everyone merges onto it.
If you haven't done so, please post up your directions, this way we can decide where we are going to meet up at. I would say lets all meet at the place we are going to stop and rest at, but it may not be the same highway as others... so we'll have to meet the 2nd day most likely.
Mo, where in NC you gonig to be at?

I am in Kansas City and won't be joining you, but I think this is a really great idea. I looked at the map for a city that would be cool to hang out in. Memphis is pretty cool for a one night stay. There are some cool bar and grills there to rest and relax for a night. I was thinking that a good way to organize is to have a meeting place for each state and then advance to a centrally located city like Memphis(402 miles to Tulsa) or Nashville. Stay there for a night and head out to Tulsa. Just my 2 cents eventhough I really don't have anything to do with any of this...lol. Anyways, looking forward to seeing the calvary roll in and meeting you all. Drive safe!!

That would be fun to try to meet up with everyone before rolling into Tulsa. Us Midwest guys are planning something like this as well. If I remember correctly, Minneapolis and Cedar Rapids are meeting up in Des Moines. Then we will roll down to Kansas City and meet up with those guys. Meanwhile, Chicago is heading to St. Louis and the two groups will merge somewhere in Missouri. I want to roll into Tulsa with as many cars as possible.

I gotta take a look at the map again, and see who is still going... It's been a bit since I touched this subject, but I wanted to get the idea out there and let some time pass so we can better figure out who is going to be able to make it.
Matt - I'm def going to be going, I told Heath I was coming, so I'm not going back on my word... plus I want to meet some of the mid-West and West coast members. If you and whomever from NE and PA wants to meet me and who ever else somewhere, I can go off course to make it about even for each of us. I figured if we could get a handful or two of cars, that would be so much easier for both sleeping arrangements, etc. We can all go in on a hotel somewhere along the way.
