I guess it all depends on your definition of both, but i want to know. JDM or VIP on a Box?

Neither. I prefer to go with what I like. I chose my xB to be different so why go with a style already created. True JDM cost out the ass. VIP can get to gaudy. (This are my opionions) Take what you like from the two and create your own style.

I couldnt have said it better myself. I think alot of JDM/VIP style cars look good, but dont really reflect the owners personality or uniqueness.

Agreed, go with what you like ... you know you have done it right when your box does not fit into a specific category and they have to call it custom ...
I know I'm gonna get fried for this but JDM is nothing more than expensive Japanese Pep Boys Bolt ons ....

You dont have to go all out for anything. Make it yours, a little VIP flavor and a few JDM parts dont hurt :)

JDM is Japanese Domestic Market, meaning parts you can only get there (supposedly).
VIP is actually derived from the Japanese word Bippu, its a type of style centered around low, luxury cars with fat lipped rims like this:

I like the stock JDM style, carbon fiber oem parts, but my personal favorite, what i hope to do in a few years, wide body kit with a a few inches body drop, and drop the roof.

I've seen both styles that I really like...even though never would fit me as an owner. That's why I agree with the others...just go with what fits you and you'll be happy. LOL...then again, that might not work either. Because to be perfectly honest...my "true" style is lowered, chopped top, and a chevy small block stuffed in it...LOL!!!!

I agree with the fact of.....Be yourself with your ride.....If you are happy with the way it looks then that's what matters!!!!!!!

I would have to add to the Bippu that it is all about stance. Never should you have more than a +15 off set, camber is a must. I really go crazy when people classify there vehicles as VIP when they are nothing at all like it.
Real VIP has not been "played out" (a slogan off of scion life) it has rarely been achieved here in the states.
looking for a good pic.

Attached is the true VIP look. Company's like bbist are not VIP as they try to pass them selfs off as. Granted some of there parts are very good, I have heard some horror stories too.

now if your talking true vip, yea thats different, but vip like 99% of the population thinks is played out, true vip requires air ride suspension, plush leather interiors, plush interiors in general its all about comfort, nothing more

yeah it's only played out becasue people think that you have an extra cup holder and 2in of lip that your now VIP. in it's true form or even in a mild form it deff not played out.

I need to find the magazine I had that described VIP, but it pretty much meant everything had to be subtle, the fab kit is not subtle, neither is the jdm stuff, slight changes to the body styling that makes the car look cleaner, new carpet, seats, power everything, heated and cooled seats, heated mirrors... so on and so forth

I only got 2 of the top of my head. The one shown and Scotty.
Here is a good video of some from overseas. The vip is usually reserved for high end luxury vehicles and not an economical box.

yep, they generally debadge them or put something classy on it, deep dish wheels if I remember right, but they never ever run wheels at an angle like most people think is vip, the reason the true VIP cars have that angle is because they are bagged and they only show that when parked and sitting frame or as low as they can, but VIP is more about comfort and subtle looks then anything else

jwaj2002, I'm gonna disagree with you. i read an article where they talked to the guy who basically started the movement. He said the body kit is a major part.
Anyway, eventually every "style" can be played out. But if you build it to how you like, its not a style, therefore cant get played out... vbmenu_register("postmenu_214678", true);

First you can't have true VIP cause you don't have the platform
second shortbus is closest to describing the scene and it def. isn't played although HIN isn't helping....
read this
http://vipstylecars.com/modules.php?name=Content&file=viewarticle&id=1
but I agree with the overall sentiment on here I LOVE VIP and VIP STYLED cars but do your own thing take what you want from where and blend it.....
