Honestly, i think toyota should throw in a smaller 4 cylinder engine that displaces at least 200hp. Something like the 1.8L VVTL-I 2zz-ge.
With the 2.7L engine, there will be a 30 hp gain, but possible a 2-3 hundred weight gain also.

I highly doubt that increasing the displacement to 2.7l will ever increase the weight by 2-3 hundred pounds.
Should have come turbo'd from factory to begin with keeping the 2.4l 2az

i agree with that turbo'd. ya s/c is good and all if you know wat to do with it to get more out of it. but toyota/scion does need to come out with a factory add on, or buy off the lot.
and as for adding weight. ya i dont think so. maybe if anything like 50 to 100...... if that. but they need to come out with something that can actuly compete with other "tuner" car out there. we aint got shit stock. haha

I say throw a 4G63 engine in there and rwd or awd, and then you're set, haha

Truthfully...Scion doesn't need a new engine....they need to re-tune what they have. There is no reason the 2.4 should be putting out 161 when Honda is getting 210 out of 2.0. If Scion makes a 2.7 ... I want 250+ HP. And give me an option for a damn 6-speed!

no need for a six speed either. 5 is plenty.

I'll trade you an extra gear, for a better transmission overall. I'm more or less stuck with the 1st gen crappy tranny (MT of course).

our cars look fast, but dont have the hp that it desires...we have more top end,and the hondas b16 and k20 has more bottom end speed...i hate getting beat by hondas..eeeerrrrrrrrr.

4g63 would not be a bad idea, i have beat mine really bad and its still holding up good and its not hard to mod them and get 400-500awhp. rwd or all wheel drive its ok and if the motor was forced induction from factory would be nice, but the tc really needs more power....... 250whp aleast lol

uh...what? how is that possible? we have more tq's than honda/acura.
I pull on all stock honda's and acura's (to be fair my car is stock...CAI is all I have). Its the top end where I/we always get beat.

I think the tC needs a weight reduction. Like around 2600 lbs and should come with the TRD springs and struts instead of that stock junk for starters. RWD would be awesome but I can't see that happening for some reason.

The 2.7 L is the 2az bored over. It's what they put in the Venza. I am still holding out for the ft86 to be the next tC, but most likely Toyota will keep the boxer motor for themselfs.

hell i agree. i got a 06 tc (auto) and i have driven a newer tc (auto and manny) and the throttle by wire is so much more responsive and the tcs isnt so touchy. they just need to come out with a small displacement and high power engine. we do have the tq for the line but hey its the top end.
and hell i want awd. that be the bomb. cuz then it can be more the the sports car page. and if someone wants a rwd then you know wat to do. i mean yeha its a lot of work but still.
as i see it someone made us look great but not perform. 2 point in the triangle cheap and look good

they aught to take a page from the hyundai Genesis coupe and run an inline 4T Rwd. Perfect for drag and drift, but i'm not holding my breath.

I think i'd like to see the beams 3s-ge motor in the new tc line up but with the turbo option for those willing to throw down some extra cash
