... And how do you get the damn things off O_o
I can't take them off to save my life number one and number two I probably won't measure them right lol
Yeah, have fun with that. You will probably have to drill the center out of the rivets holding them in the door. I think they are 5 1/4", but other sizes will fit as replacements if you use adapter rings. I just looked at the Scion Service Manual, and the directions given are to drill out the rivets for removal.
I wouldn't lie to you... they even have a picture... ;)

stock is 6 1/2" in front and 5 1/4" in the rear doors.
You can fit 6 1/2" in both though.
You do have to drill the rivets out and will have to screw the new speakers in with some self tapping screws.

Aaah, useful stuff, thanks guys.
I'm about to install new speakers in two weeks' time. Is it very difficult to remove the door panels to get to the factory speakers?
Not at all... want a picture? LOL
Here you go... from the xD Service Manual...

What the hell... Why do you have to drill the rivets out? I thought scions were sopost to be hellaeasy to work on... why would they make one of the most common mods near impossible?...well.. so much work at least

speakers are riveted to the door on every scion model, ever.
as for the door hard to take off, ha, you havent owned a scion long, have you?
but yes, removing the speakers and prolly the hardest thing to remove on a scion, lol.

I don't know about being hard. I could drill out the rivets faster than unbolting/ unscrewing it..
Yep, it's a snap, takes hardly any time to take off the door panels, and drilling out the rivets is quick and painless. My guess is they wisely went with rivets as they don't have to worry about them vibrating loose over time that way...

true, but you have to switch tools. i ment it being hard in terms of not being the standard 10,, as everything else.

How do I get them back in after I drill out the rivet? Also, can anyone recommend speakers ? I want some that pick up mids and highs. I listen to primarily death and black metal ... and I can't tell the difference between the lead guitar and rhythm or the bass drum and the growling.
It Sucks X_X

For the speaker mounting plate/or whatever you are mounting the speaker to either rivet them back in or some nuts and bolts. Then just screw the speaker to the mounting plate.
