i just recently started at 11.2k miles my guage cluster when switched from headlights off to on and parking lights, my cluster will dim down for abit (sometimes 2secs-10secs) before to becomes fully bright again, i never had this issue in the past, it just started doing it, the dealership says its the fotocell, but if thats the case, why is it just now doing it, in the past it was fully light up no matter what setting i was on( lights on,off, parking)
is anyone else having this issue?
Good Question....
Glad you asked, lets see what QUick and QUack, the xDucktors have to say about it...
QUick - "Sounds whack homes..."
QUack - "Might want to do a drive by and kilowatt on the down low..."
QUick - "Excuse my brother, he thinks he is the Japanese Eminem..."
QUack - "Ok, Ok.... seriously now. The gauge cluster lights should change brightness levels when turning the lights on and off, but there is not a delay involved. You know that lil adjusting dial on the dash to the left of the steering wheel? Looks like a lil tiny wheel sticking out of the plastic, you turn it one way and the gauge cluster gets brighter, and the other way, it gets dimmer when the head lights are in the on position..."
QUick - "Don't treat em like morons, of course they know what that switch is, these are Scikotics, not Honda enthusiasts!"
QUack - "Oops, wrong forum, my bad!"
Quick - "That dimmer switch, my brother described in such excruciating detail, is only active when the lights are on. Does zero, zilch, nada when they are off."
QUack - "Yeah, what he said!"
QUick - "OH, shut up already... That switch seems to be going out, taking a bit of time to heat up before full contact is being allowed."
QUack - "I agree with lil parts... Take a peek at how long it is taking and odds are, the variance in timing is related to fluctuations in the ambient temperature the switch is currently residing in."
QUick - "Ambient what??? Speak English Einstein!"
QUack - "Takes longer depending on wether the switch is cold or warm... That better? Like having two damn wives working with you."
QUick - "Great news is, Scions have an outstanding 36,000 mile warranty that will cover this issue."
QUack - "Yeah, since you only have 11.2K on the car, it should be covered, take it to your nearest Scion dealer and let them replace the switch under your warranty."
QUick - "Enjoy that xD, those lil beasts have charm."
QUack - "Hey, send us some of that hot vinyl your club flies, it rocks!"
