Radical new tire design by Michelin. The next generation of tires.
They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.
These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.
The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tires.
This is what great R&D will do, and just think of the impact on existing technology:
a. no more air valves
b. no more air compressors at gas stations
c. no more repair kits
SCAN DOWN & SEE.
These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin. It will be awhile before they are available to the automotive industry.

If my memory serve me right this infomation has been release like six months ago.....I don't think they will make it to the general consumer market but would be used for law enforcement vehicles......Remember when we tried to put color in the tread what happened.

These are cross section pics to demonstrate how they work I think the final production will resemble a regular tire.

i hope so.. cuz i can't imagine people puttin' something like that on a car.. when the pic is taken from the front side like that.. it looks like a truck tire or something! YIKES!
damn, I saw these like a year ago man! the website I found them at also had tires for bikes and small bulldozers.

i saw something about these on National Geographic Channel a while back. they've been trying to develope these for a few years now. the problem they can't quite overcome is the noise. apparently when you get over 35mph, the roar is deafening.
