tC header recomendations?

I am looking around and the best deals for a header for my tC are on eBay, any suggestions. Here are a few i have looked at:

Thats what i was gonna say.. I'm actually doin' that pretty soon myself.. i got a really good deal on the exhaust and headers if i got them together! :) Charlie is a really nice guy, and he's always willing to work with everybody ESPECIALLY if you're a Scikotics member!

More than ive got, i am just going to get the JDM Chrome 4-1 high performance header, its nice and its only 70 plus 36 shipping. I just really wanted to go for looks, not speed, i dont need speed with my driving record.

I would never buy performance parts for my car from eBay. There is some pretty shoddy stuff on eBay. I have heard so many stories of welds cracking, wrong flanges, and several other bad things about eBay parts. If you are planning on getting a race intake, headers, and exhaust as you say, start small and just buy one at a time and get quality parts. Trust me, you will be better off doing it that way and it will be better for your car.

LOL, x2. I haven't even looked at the auction (eBay is blocked at work), but if it is one of those JDM headers, I would check it often for cracks.

Its not JDM i just says it is, its a 4-1, unlike the 4-2-1 which i belive the stock tC has, but i dont know that cause i havent looked at the stock 1 closely. All i know it that it is supposed to add 15-20 hp at the crank, and that was tested on an auto, which is what i have, so we will see. If i dont like it my friend is willing to pay me full for it for his tC to modify, cause he is good like that.

I dont really know about the legality of other states because in FL is doesnt matter.....as for your rasp with that MMW header (which is the one i want too:clap: ) i would add a high flow cat and a resonator....from what i have read this will give you a nice deep tone and minimal rasp

I hope someone outbids you. Those ebay headers are pieces of crap. Honestly, save your money. I wish you had done some research first. The stock tC header is 4-1 with a Catalytic converter. 4-1 headers are ok, but they have to be of decent quality. All 3 of those aren't.

If you had waited for some good opinions before buying, you'd save yourself a lot of trouble. NEVER trust something from eBay. Especially a "performance" part that's THAT cheap. This is more likely to HARM your car than to HELP.

JDM and tC do NOT go together at all. That's just stupid eBay marketing.

If you do buy it, Inspect it thoroughly, both before and after you put it on your car. I'm willing to bet it's made cheaply and has shoddy welds. You won't get any lasting reliability with it.

yeah neothin from s/l (somewhere here on scikotics too i think) told me about how fl doesnt have emissions...that's crazy considering u guys will be the first underwater IF (for all u right wingers out there) global warming happens/continues...

he said he had a custom pipe w/ 2 18" resonators and the pm axle back, which was quiet at first but got a little raspy when the weather cooled off...if u know him let me know how his car is sounding =)

however, if your friend is willing to buy it from you, then why not order it & get it inspected--then report back to us so our fears of ebay can be calmed or confirmed legitimate. worst that can happen is that ur friend buys it and ur $ and tc are saved... =)

Ok, not trying to thread jack, but it IS on the subject of headers...Most of the better ones I have seen eliminate the first cat and trip the check engine sensor. Is this true? And if it is, any good ones that don't do this?

Yes, it is true that most throw the CEL after installation. There are CEL eliminators, that move the sensor back out of the header a little bit. People have had mixed results with these. If you do a search on ScionLife, you should be able to find a how-to. Some people get a CEL immediately, while other times, it is a few months down the road before the light comes on. It just varies.

What brand of Intake was it though? If it's not a name brand, it's most likely one of those cheap knockoffs, like the header this guy's looking at.

Oh Bomz. I know some people who have those - they're only so-so quality wise. Most of the owners I know are xB owners, and they've had a horrible time with fitment issues.

mine fit fine...it's for sale 60 shipped if anyone wants it haha. it's in immaculate condition, i take care of my stuff =) it was also used for a total of TWO days. dammit.

All is fine with the header and it is running fine, it threw a CE light but i am going to get a CEL eliminator. Other than that i got a HP boost and its nice, and sounds good.

Anyone know how the STRUP header sounds with the STRUP Axel Back on the TC?? Hopefully it doesnt sound like a CIVIC! haha.. cuz thats what im gettin at the end of this month.

Talk the Froubaby around here.....shes in our ft lauderdale chapter and just had those installed with the injen intake....

i havent heard it yet but she said it is loud and raspy.....but nothing a high flow cat and resonator cant fix, i am sure....

Any header will make the tC sound raspy. The only way to fix it is by adding a resonator.
