I need some help about Intake For a 08 TC. My problem is I have a intake that has no carb on it and Im looking for A intake that is Carb legal. I've been doing some research on the TRD intake and so far been told its legal to have on the TC. I have also been looking at the Fujita intake but still not sure if its legal. I've seen some site say some of the Fujita are legal and some say no carb off road only. what do you guys think I should do and go for. hit up like to hear what everyone thinks.

I have the TRD CAI, and love it.. Wether or not its legal? I dont know.. I bought it from another sciko, and installed myself. I do have the stock still in hand and redy to go back in if necessary (to be legal). I have heard that all CAI are "Off road only". Now I dont know what that says, since alot of people have turbos on their tC's and still pass emessions. I do know that the TRD Supercharger is legal, no problem..

I would buy TRD/AEM if your worried about legality.. TRD/AEM also have the water absorber... But Injen has the widest pipe and best performance(not by much)...

The TRD intake is carb legal and it sounds pretty effin mean. I just installed it on my tc, and I love it. It also helps with warranty i hear. I'm not too sure on this topic, but I hear that if you buy from trd, it doesn't void any part on your car. This is just a rumor tho. If anyone could clear that up for me that would be cool :)

As for the warranty, if you have a dealership install the product, you are for sure garenteed no problems.. When you switch brand from TRD or install youself you looking at no garentee.. However, the dealership has to PROVE that you doing the swap or having a NONtotota product installed, actually caused the damage...

Hence, a CAI isnt going to void your warranty, there is almost no way that a cold air intake can damage your engine...

BTW: I saw a few cheap TRD CAI's on Ebay last night.. And, if you find one that is "AEM", its the same as TRD, even to dealers...

Well crap man i installed it myself. Oh well it doesn't matter it just voids the part. That's so dumb cause i talked to a service rep at Toyota and he said it doesn't matter what after market part i put on it voids the warranty on the part being modified. These stupid dealerships just want to suck the most money out of your pocket as they can get. I remember they said there was something wrong with my passenger air bag and they were trying to get me to pay for it claiming that my warranty didn't cover it. When dealing with dealerships it's a freaking pain in the :moon:

Dont tell them anything you have done yourself.. If they ask, then tell them you had another dealership install the part... remember these people are still "Car Salesmen"...

I know the AEM TRD is the same as the one I saw toyota selling online. But knowing now and days its almost hard to have anything that look after make, only because the Freakin cops will go after you for it and it realy sucks.

Yeah... i'm a "salesman". Every salesperson I know has a different approach in varied degree's. As hard as you think it is to find an honest salesperson, it's even harder for me to find an honest customer. Everyone thinks that every sales person lies about everything and walks in the door with their lies already prepared!(see several posts above) ;) lol... it's ok because we don't expect a customer to tell us the truth so we do the best we can

That's why I love selling Scion! Everything is so straightforward and real!

If it's TRD, then the dealer repairing it is not likely to ask you if you installed it. They will likely assume it was dealer installed. As for legal... you would def need to check local regulations. We hear of Scions getting tickets for the strangest things in some area's of the nation, but to the residents there it's normal!

I dont think ive ever had a cop ask me to pop my hood... lol... Thats why I like the TRD exhaust, it looks totally stock, no cherrybomb out the back look...

Im sure that most people shopping for a car, isnt serious about buying... I bought my RS5 from a friend of the family whom ownes his own Toyota dealership.. I got $9,000 for my 06 FM tC trade.. which had frame damage...

ok ive went to go price out the TRD intake at the Toyota Dealer and there part shop printed me out a paper saying Note: For race use only. This part is sold with no warrenty and installation of this part may adversely effect the warrany coverage on the vehicle. so im guessing its illegal but if it is why the hell are they selling is for $440 dallors? A budy of mine that works at toyota told if we sell its legal. Im starting to think screw it and go for something illegal and if I get pulled over agian o well. but anyway lets not get to cali laws, they already piss me of lol.

I have a question as far as sound goes..such as what sounds better. Should I get the TRD exhaust, the TRD CAI, or both?

Tyler, don't move to Cali. This state hate's car moder's and the laws are so strict for everything. And yes, Cops make you pop your hood. You have the lawful right to refuse, but that just gives them cause to take your car in.

Well as for Cali.. im not going to let the cops stop me from comming.. I can follow rules and still mod... My RS5 is alredy lowered by the factory, which they cant say is aftermarket... The CAI is probably the only Illegal Mod I would do, other than HID's..

Im not sure if I would go TRD Exhaust, unless your not planning on ever running a headder... Any CAI is going to make any exhaust louder.. I have had TRD Exhaust on both my tC's, i prefer it because i dont care about adding a headder.. My first tC I had a cheapo CAI, made it louder... My RS5 has TRD CAI which makes it louder and have a lower tone...
