I think the heat shiled looks good when painted the right color. Mine use to be painted blue, then I changed and had it powder coated gloss black. Several of my friends have there heat shields painted and they look really good. So, I say yes to paint it. It looks like you have a red theme going. Red would look good. I have a picture of mine in my profile.

Lowes sells a paint for grills that comes in several colors and can take up to 1200 degrees. I did mine white and there isnt hardly any discoloration.

The engine paint will get discoloration especially if you put on a clear coat. I will take pictures of mine and post up. the clear coat turns yellow because they dont make a high temp clear coat. I left the heat shield uncleared and i cleared the plastic engine cover. when it gets hot, the clear gets tacky again and there is all kinds of dirt inbedded in it now and its turning yellow. i am going to have to sand the clear off and maybe repaint

I got mine powder coated about a year ago and it still looks really good just like it did when it was done. I have had zero problems with it.

Im not into that look but i would go powder coat.

I would also have to throw out another idea and go with a Scionpro stainless steel polished header cover...

If you want to paint it just use high temp paint ans high temp clearcoat I did mine and it didn't discolor at all and held up good. I then decided to change the color so I had it powder coated black and that is great too but the paint held up just as well. This is the powder coated one.

I used the 500 degree engine paint and clearcoat just make sure to let it cure a couple days before you reinstall it or you can bake it in the oven at low temp to speed it up but it will stink up the house...lol better to set it in the sun.
The CF cover I bought and I did the paint on it then ordered some chrome overlays from Randode and put those on it. I think I got the oil cap from Scionpro or fastscion not sure. Just take your time and prep it well make sure there is no oil or grease on it. Post pics when your done.

Yeah, I am going to be powerder coating within the next couple of months i hope. the color i want doesnt exsist yet it will cost me about $300 to have a company in california try to make it. There are a couple of peices that i wont be able to powerder b/c they are plastic so i am still a little up in the air about it.

Just use a high temp paint or use the high temp clear over it to give it the glossy look. You can also powerder coat them and they do make a clearcoat powder stuff to make it glossy
