I'm getting a new white tc here in the next month and I want to keep it n/a (naturally asspirated) but I would like quite a bit more power, what all things should I do, I have a lil over 3K to work with. Please help, I want to hear from someone who already has some experience with the tc and its power.

most people will probably say buy a turbo kit. you can fnd one for 3k, and it'll bump you up to around 300whp!

Yeah but idk, I would love to go turbo but I feel that its kind of just asking for problems plus a good kit, installed, dynoed, a fuel managment and all that will put me over my limit.

Plus then it would not be n/a....

Do a full exhaust replacement, header all the way back, include the Strup CEL eliminator in your budget as well about 40 bucks. Replace the stock intake with a CAI of your choice, look through the ones available that dyno test and have proven gains, and also get the anti hydro locking valve to protect your investment. Finally throw on a set of NST pulleys. This will free up about as much power for the tC engine as you can currently get without doing a Turbo or some kind of engine rebuild. Have fun and good luck!

Sounds like a good plan, thanks for the help, how much power you think I'd be running with that? BTW whats that anti hydro locking valve? How bout adding an intake manifold? Will that help any?

Because I want to get advice from people who already have the car that I'm getting? I consider research a smart thing to do, just my opinion. :D

It means I agree with the above post... Kary explained exactly what I plan to do to mine...

Well, the anti hydro locking valve goes in the tubing for the CAI and prevents water getting sucked up through the filter and into the engine.

A new intake manifold can make a huge difference, depending on the quality and lay out of the stock one, if it is designed to reduce air turbulence and equalize the flow into each cylinder then it can add considerable power. Not sure what is out there for the tC, haven't heard of many folks doing that, so my guess is the design on the stock one is pretty decent so the gains are minimal and just not cost effective.

There are tons of tC gurus on here, so seek them out for more specific information. One in particular is my Northern Region MFIC, Tony, aka: THansenite. He can get you started in the right direction, or just go find his user info and do a search through his posts and you will find info on most of the items I listed above.

Injen CAI is what I'm going for... seems to have the most gain, but will need to get the valve as well since it doesn't come with one.

Lots of YouTube videos of different setups so you can see what they sound like with different pairings.

I really like the sound of the TRD exhaust with the injen CAI but that wont give me much power I dont think. It seems that weapon r makes a good intake manifold and i plan on getting a set of hearders as well. Has anyone used the power neo products? Also what cai's come with the anti hydro valve? Does AEM? What about the weapon r short ram, is it a good product?

I have the TRD exhaust and Injen CAI on my tc and love it. Combo sounds great together. One thing you need to keep in mind is if your auto or manual. If your auto you wont be able to get as much HP as a manual would. I belive (correct me if I'm wrong) but you can only get about 250 ish HP before the auto tranny starts to slip so thats about as high as you can go. Manual you can get up to 300+ with the right parts and a good tune. One thing I would do if your serious about this is to read up on the scionlife forums. They have plenty of info on there for power. They even have dyno sheets up for the different header intake setups.

Couldnt have said it better myself....but personally I would just save the money and go turbo....

Oh I'm def going manual I've already talked to my dealer, they said they can just trade their white auto out for a white manual and then it'll be mine. Do you notice any gains with the injen trd setup, and did you get that anti hydro valve? Well does anybody know of good tuner shops or anything in my general area, like indy or plainfield or somewhere?
