ive been looking on ebay for some headers for my car, i found some real cheap and wanted to know if it matters what brand i got, i saw some from 70 to 400. also do i have to get a cat-back exhaust at the same time i get the headers or can i get them at seperate times?

I personally don't recommend buying any eBay part.. Save up the money and buy quality parts you'll be thankful in the long run.

Also to answer your question you can get the headers and cat back exhaust at separate times. No need to purchase at once.

your best bet is to do some research on youtube for different exhaust/ header set ups. That way you can get an idea of the sound you will get. Honestly our cars sound like crap if you switch out the headers unless you weld in a big resonator to take the rasp out. I would suggest do an exhaust and see how you like the sound first. I have the TRD from factory on my tc and love it. Sounds deep but doesnt have a "pissed off weedeater" sound to it. lol

If you are set on getting a set of headers try and find a true 4-1 header. Good brands I have come across are strup, alphawerks, dc sports and megan racing.

Definitely do your homework. A 4-2-1 header will keep your curve closer to the midrange, while a 4-1 will push it further to the right.

A header by itself will produce some gains. Nothing drastic, but noticeable on your daily drive. Always buy quality though. Save your pennies up for a header built by a company with a good rep, or just send my the money you'd spend on an ebay header and consider it a lesson in throwing money away :D

As the previous poster noted, if you're going with a catback with the header, be aware there will be a ton of rasp. Some weld on resonators, some swap exhausts until they find a tolerable tone. I've found keeping the stock midpipe (and the cat in line) mitigates most of the rasp. YMMV.

thank you guys for the advice, I have a friend who bought his catback on ebay and he said he was happy with it so thats why i looked in there (his is a tsudo exhaust) but yea thats what i was thinkin of doing, saving my money and going with a good brand no matter what the price is. I might just go with an exhaust for now and then later on maybe add the headers.

One of the good things about keeping your stock manifold over the header is it keeps the pre-cat in place, and leaves the torque curve closer to the low end. I've bounced between a header with an axleback and stock manifold with a catback (I like to keep a cat in line), and I definitely notice a difference in where the power is.

That being said, the driving feel is more torquie with the header than with the manifold/pre-cat in place. There's nothing wrong with the stock setup. Don't need to worry about CEL or the service guys being jerks about aftermarket stuff "causing" engine issues.

The other thing is if you're in it to show off on the street, the header does nothing for you, while everyone can see the exhaust. Just depends on what your goals are. Happy modding!

Tsudo actually is a pretty decent brand... My BF has Tsudo Headers and Exhaust and it sounds great and he loves it... Im just throwing it out there

IMO Name brands are not ALWAYS that important... a lot of off and no name brands make the exact same product as the Big names (some even use the same specs and molds and so on). Im not saying Scower Ebay for the cheapest stuff... All im saying is that a lot of money can be wasted when someone doesnt do reasearch to see if they can save money by doing an off brand... sorta like generic drugs at Walgreens lol

Just trying to help... 8-)

Thank you and that is true. I like the way his car sounds with Tsudo exhaust and i think he got a good deal but right now I got another project car I need to get fixed so I can drive it and give my tC a break. So thanx everybody and I'm definetly going to do my homework before buying anything for the Tc or my Chevy pick up I have to fix.
