hey guys, I noticed that a lot of you guys are almost if not experts in A/C control units lightings...I just installed a Pioneer DVD player double din and after that I lost the back lighting in the A/c controls... the thing that is killing me is that when the headlight is off the clock is lit and as soon as I turn the lights on it goes off and nothing else lights up...so I fill F*** since I cant see at night what my a/c is doing...any inputs....

Did you tap into any wires? Sounds like you may have tapped into a wrong wire. Tim or me from the Jensen Beach chapter can take a look at it for you one day when we meet up. We've both taken our cars apart numerous times to say the least and has had a total of 5 tC's between the two of us.lol We should be able to help figure it out. :nerd:

I had this same problem when I got my tC, and it would flash on and off sometimes while driving so I guess something became loose back there. Toyota ended up replacing that whole module piece for free under the factory warranty.

thats the thing.... I didnt have to tap to anything... the place that sold me the head unit gave me the wiring harness and the double din install kit for free... so it was a basic install....so easy that I allowed my 12 y/o brother do most of the work ( supervised ofcourse... lol ):cavallo:

Well it sounds as if it's a ground switch issue. Should be the opposite, you turn the lights on, these illuminate. Perhaps the harness they gave you was wired wrong or there is a simple short in it somewhere... happens... sounds like you got some help to locate it as well. Vehicle electronics can be soooo much fun... LOL

Good Luck and let us know what you find!

I had the same problem with mine... I know exactly what's wrong. It's an easy fix, all you have to do is take apart the A/C control box, and look right under where the switch for the emergency flashers is at on the board. You'll see two little chips in box T302 and T303. They each have three posts connecting them to the board. The solder joints for these are garbage for some reason. You probably jared the board while you were installing your radio. Just reheat the joints. You don't need to add any solder, but you can if you want to, just be sure not to short the side with two posts. That's it. Hope this helps.
