I ordered the Dezod kit and its on the way. I have an automatic 09, just trying to see if there is something i can do to keep the transmission going. I assume someones gonna say "Dont Boost, blah blah blah". I am asking if there is anything I can add to my system to keep it healthy. I've seen that the transmission cooler is a must and also that the trans. temp gauge is a good idea. But is there anything else? I'm not really trying to build the next speed racer car but looking to have some fun on my daily driving. Thanks for your input...

OO.... auto trannys cost allot to fix up and repair thats all i know.
all i can say is you beter have a damn good Tuner... kuz on a auto i wud probably want the tune to be a little bit more smoother without the sudden jolt of power when u hit the next gear.
i think KRdshrk i think thats how u spell it.. he got a auto tc with the greddy turbo he mite help you out a little. but good luck :bouss01_gif:

Ive been running close to 240-250whp on my auto for quite awhile now without issue. The transmission is alot more reliable than alot of people give it credit for. The biggest issue is with wot redline shifting - you have to let off for it to shift properly without slipping - but once you get good at it you can loose next to no power and have the tranny shift well :) Also I was able to pull ign timing to help the tranny shift at redline - i have nearly eliminated the non shifting issue by reducing power at redline by pulling a fairly decent amount of timing (around -15deg at 6300rpm) However i do not recommend you tuning the car yourself if you dont really know what youre doing. Let me know if you have any questions - i can pm you my number. As for upgrades that will help the tranny - I HIGHLY recommend a good tranny cooler - i actually completely removed the stock tranny cooler lines and ran my own lines to a very large dedicated tranny cooler. Also when you can afford it going to a modified valve body (around $550) will greatly improve the shifting issue :)

thank you for the info. also would the mishimoto radiator and fan be a good idea?

I know im sure this will cause a big debate but to be perfectly honest the stock radiator has no problem keeping up with the thermal requirements of a simple turbo setup on stock block. To aid in cooling i replaced the thermostat with a gates 170* available at advance auto parts and i use a 50/50 premix long life antifreeze with a bottle of water wetter. My engine temps now stay rediculously low even in the recent 105* temps weve had here in oklahoma :)

Echoing the above poster on the radiator, the stock should be fine with a thermostat upgrade. I've read of some cold weather issues with the mishimoto radiators, though they seem to be few and far between.

what does the thermostat upgrade do?

itll allow coolant to flow through the engine sooner than the stock thermostat keeping engine temps lower longer

My words of wisdom on boosting your auto:
1) the kit comes with a trans cooler, use it! Also, use a synthetic high performance trans fluid as well.
2) do not run much around or past 250ft/lbs your trans will turn to slush

What's wrong with the stock Toyota T-IV fluid? I thought Toyota used decent fluids, their oil filters and long life coolant work well.

It works, but I have seen it break down plenty of times on boosted apps

You might want to add a bottle of lubegard to your tranny.i added a bottle to mine and helped smooth out the shifting a ton!! I got mine from napa..ask for the red bottle with the silver label..thats the one thats compatable with the synthetic fluid.

ok i found more on sl. i guess ill be looking at the throttle body upgrade and the torque converter. i just hope the shop that is installing my turbo can do these at the same time. or you can mail in your parts to ipt. they do it for a lil over a thousand.
