After both my parents cars were brokin into last weekend I have decided to get an alarm. Do we have any alarm discounts anywhere? What kind of alarm should I get?

perhaps the new clifford 50.5 2 way, has 1 mile range vs 1/4 mile as the previous model..... cheapest place to get alarm parts is ebay. if you have a shop installing it, make sure you look into their work and see what customers have to say about it. nothing is worse than a bad installer and your electrical system gets jacked. make sure you trust your installers.

I know what you mean on installation, my friends caught on fire one day and almost burned his car up.

I just got the Viper 791 XV installed a few weeks ago and I love it. Remote start from my office and the inside is nice and warm by the time i get to the car.

How much did you pay to have it installed? How much was the alarm?

It goes for 500 at Best Buy. I got it for 180 and paid 180 for the install at another shop. Best Buy will not install a remote start on a manual in CA. I know people have found the same alarm on Ebay and other websites for around the 180 mark.

I have the same one. It's great! $400 installed is what I got it for.
The range on the 2-way could be better but it's doing it's job really well.

I will chime in here too my alarm installer left a wrench on the positive terminal on the battery and coming down my driveway after having my nice new viper alarm installed it grounded out and caused a battery fire thankfully nothing else besides my hand getting burnt and me getting shocked when i knocked th wrench off the battery in a split second not thinking. it burned through my coat and my shirt and gave me a third degree burn. Hey I sued and won against the install shop because they would not pay my medical bills but choose your installer carefulley and een when they are done open the hood and triple check everything. Also make sure they use the firewall grommet most installers go around it. this will void the cars warranty because water could possibley get into the cars fuse box thats what th dealership told me. I trusted those guys who installed my alarm they could have killed me with their errors. I won't name the shop their is no need but I now have to drive an hour to have stuff like that installed because I got screwed so bad by the installers.

another thing to think of before you tint your windows CP films offers a south american 40 percent tint security film combo that isn't expensive any LLumar Dealer and installer should be able to get it for you I have it on my windows it doesn't mean somone can't break in because they can but it stops smash and grab the idea is to slow the thief down long enough for you to get to your car after the alarm goes off. once the thief has trouble getting through a smashed window and an alarm is blaring they are more likley to move on to an easier target just some advice. For the same price as a good tint job you can get tint and security film combined.

I do believe CP films makes it darker but 35 percent is whats legal in my state so i went with the 40 percent chances are alot of llumar tint installers are not going to be aware of the film since it is primarily sold to south america where crime is extremley high but what you can do is call cp films they make llumar and have them send the film to your authorized installer. that way you avoid huge installer mark up on price thats my best advice to you now I am sponsered by cp films and there are other companies who sell thsi film I just don't know who they are. I'm sure with a little digging you could find a few diffrent brands of this film it is harder to install then regular tint the adhesive is very agressive to the window and it requires more fluid and it takes longer to cure i had to waight a week and a hlaf before I could role my windows down thats the downside it takes longer to cure because they have to use more fluid.
