im about 400 miles away from voiding my bumper to bumper warranty. do you all think its worth extending the warranty to 100,000? i dont know how much it is, but they make it seem like its comparitively cheap. any and all advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I got the extended when I bought the car. I got it for the life of the loan basically. It's like 6yrs or 75k. Something like that. Of course, at the rate I'm going, I'll pass mileage on it in the 4th or 5th year... :pilot:

i didn't get mine when i bought it and mine's baout to expire too. probably won't get it. i guess it would depend on what you are planning on doing with it. if you are planning any major mods (engine/tranny) you will probably void it with that and it would make no sense. otherwise, it may not be a bad idea.

damn, thanks for replying ya'll, this thread in other forums didnt get any replies. anyway, yeah i figured since ive already voided my power train warranty with my turbo, theres no sense in covering generic parts that might break. besides, my fathers good friend is a makeshift mechanic. thanks people.

oooh yea, once you toss in the f/i, you can pretty much forget the warranty. I'm sure they can blame alot of things on the turbo and modified ECU.
For anyone else wondering the same thing, if you didn't get it already, map out what mods you're definately going to do, and the ones you really want to do. Now, there's always the option of getting the extended and sticking to the TRD parts ... for a price ...

They have to be able to PROVE that the FI caused the issues......if your radio blows up, they can't prove that FI did that.......they can speculate anything but without proof, they have to follow through with the warranty. Aftermarket extended warranties are weird though.....they have so many holes and gaps in them that most of the time, they aren't worth the paper they are printed on.

that's true, absolutely... they do have to prove that the mod in question caused the problem, but many of the people that drive their cars, install intakes, follow the diy guides on the internet may not know the difference between a well fabricated story and a factual cause and effect.

Good point.....that is why I would take it to a different mechanic if I didn't know for sure......
