Alrighty so since my arrival last night, I have sparked a new interest in the Columbia Chapter of Scikotics. {with the grill ignitor from my spud gun}
There is myself, and TartanJack(John)
I'm gonna go to the Toyota Centers around Airport and Columbia to see who's giving sponsorship for events and such.
Gotta go.
-Update-
Tartanjack(John) has offered to take lead with the Columbia Chapter, going with the HMFIC. (Can someone plz unpuzzle that acronym for me please).
I am fairly new to the car club scene. I am really exited about being one and I saw that there is a CPR position. Which when described in the About section of your website it kinda discribed me. Today I asked a family of mexicans in a tC if they wanted to join in the middle of traffic. (Not dropping a name, the light was changing unfortunately) and I asked a guy in a 08xB if he wanted to join but he said the car was his dads.
(What a badass dad)
I talked to a man at the Toyota/Scion Dealership on Airport Blvd, but sadly he said that he was not who I needed to talk to.
He told me that I should come back on friday before five and talk to the owner.
The great thing is, during our short conversation, the man did not seem at all surprised at me asking "do you know who i can talk to about attaining sponsorship for a car club chapter?"
I hear there's a dealership in Harbison, I just so happen to be rolling out there to show off my new ride. So I'll check it out. >at night< :O

LOL!!!!! yeah its Jim Hudson in Harbison. I've spoke to them before, but last time they didn't seem to want to. Tho, other then that they're an awesome dealership. You'll probably need a proposal of what you are wanting plus what you'll be giving back to the dealership when you talk to someone. I know that Jim Hudson wanted one last time, lol... If you need help with one talk to Tim (SpazzySpaz) hes the HMFIC of Myrtle Beach. Just make sure he sends it in the right format. LOL....
Make sure to get ahold of Boxzilla to get the chapter going once you have 4 active members. You could check with G8RCrazy and DayHack to see if they would like to join up in the Columbia chapter again. LOL... yeah again....lol There was one but it was shut down, though, I'm sure someone has already told you that. LOL.... Anywho, let us know if you need anything. LOL....

I was thinking of someone who can also help the publicity/general awareness of our existence, esp. among the target audience . . . namely Scion owners.
Greenville's main sponsor is Masters Car Stereo, which also does a fair amount of customization. The owner is a Scion owner (xB) and a member (our own Cliff).

Is there a significant car modification shop in Columbia we could approach?
If the dealer's aren't interested, that would be another great "inroad."
In my experience with the Miata club in Greenville, John Finger (the main Mazda dealer in Greenville) was/is a HUGE support. They have a flyer for the club with contact info in the waiting area, have given out card for the club with new Miatas/MX-5s, and John has personally taken part at times in the club. The flyer and cards were great.
What we can add for a dealer is promotion of the BRAND and making it look "cool" in Columbia, which encourages sales. Namely, we are mobile, non-commissioned salespeople for the brand.
Most people who JOIN Scikotics look at Scions as more that "just another car" and are interested in getting more Scions into the hands of other people in our area.
I don't see why it would be a "hard sale" to a major local dealer . . .

Dealerships can help if the economy isn't bad there. That is the thing to watch for.
Shops are always a good way to look as well. You can hold your bi weekly or monthly meeting where you choose to.
We have a bi-weekly meeting at Taco Bell because they are open until 10 or 11!

LOL well then y not Waffle House as the meeting ground lol... who doesn't like WH and they don't close LOL.... And from the looks of it I already know someone there... LOL... as far as modification places.. Theres Extreme Customs and Ultimate Audio. I believe Ultimate doesn't fiberglass sub boxes but I'm not sure. I don't like but thats b/c of a bad experience years and years ago.. So I'm sure by now they've gotten new people in and all that... LOL

That dealership letter is a good basis and you just need to adjust it to make it your own.
Judge I think you like Waffle house a little too much my good friend since you know where they all are!!

My town has TWO of them, across the interstate exit from one another.
Often, both parking lots are full. I usually pick the one with less cars, so I/the fam can get a good seat, quickly.

Is there a WH on Harbison, near Columbiana?
That is more on my side of Columbia (only 50 or so miles).
If so, let's meet at it sooner rather than later.

There is one right next to my house, I don't eat in them though. I've eaten in them three times and got sick each time. Not a good record in my book so now I just stay away.

I'm moving down to Columbia in October. Is this club up and running? I manage NTB which is the same company as Tire Kingdom down there. I'd be happy to help however i can when i come down. The company is cheap and couldn't offer any money donations but I can help in getting the club discounts and such.
Oh yeah I'm in 06' tC only mods are lowered and intake

WELCOME!
When I lived in Atlanta, we used to get ALL out rubber doughnuts from NTW (the one on Mountain Ind., Tucker, GA). That was before "Warehouse" became "Battery" . . .
Didn't realize Tire Kingdom was the same company!
Is Sears still connected too?
We are getting the numbers to get it officially started back up. Shortly, we'll meet-up in a Waffle House in the Irmo to Lexy area and make things more formal (figure out officers and so forth).
I'll be up-and-running by October!
That is for certain . . .
So far, we have 3/4 for certain . . .
I'm told, four is enough.

Come to the Fat Boy Cruise In Car Show April 11th at the Woodberry Plaza in West Columbia!
I'm a new memeber as well, trying to get some umph/kick behind the Columbia chapter.
-Edit-
You said you were moving here in October?
The show you would want to attend is October 10th.
Or any 2nd saturday of any month this year.
I'll be there.
So will hotdogs.
And other great cars to look at and drool over.
:D

I'm northwest of Columbia (up I-26).
Byrds and Judge/JokerBox are both in Lexington.
G8rcrazy (HUGE Florida fan) is in North Augusta.
NE Columbia isn't that far. Just take I-20 and you can be anywhere west pretty quick.
Heck, I was in Bluffton (near Hilton Head) today helping a neighbor buy and drive home a 90 Miata for him.
In comparison, Fort Jackson feels "home!"
