we all know the next-gen was reveled tonight in Miami. so, im sure most of you have seen this on SL, but for those of you who havent, here you go.

observations of next-gen xB:

The 2008 xB is wider,
It looks a LOT like the T2B
Dual exhaust was displayed
It has Projectors.
It has rear door speakers,
2.4L, but that was hushed up real quick once the model opened the hood.
5 Axis bodykit available.
No window between C and D pillars, this removes the antennas currently available.
There IS an antenna on the top center of the car, current xA-ish.
5 lugs, Volk rims on display.
The rear seat had a gap under it. Like a big one,. No functionality was displayed.
The car was a custom light yellow-orangey metal flakey color, and all the interior was coordinated. No word on if the color matching is standard, but it looked hot.
The gauges are still in the center of the dash, unlike the xD.
The shifter is very much like the Element, all in the center console, kinda high.
Double Din. The head unit was from an 06. It did have steering wheel controls.
One backup lamp. It's on the drivers' side. Odd..
4 wheel disk brakes.


any of you who were at the unveiling, can you share any other details?

That was pretty much it, but the one we saw was the 5 axis version. We did NOT see the stock production version.

thats cool the bigger engine is a nice add and better brakes ... im gonna be tempted to trade in my 04 for an 08 in the future..

Inspired by yes. But not the T2B. It is kinda hard to explain. It is like a refined T2B. I am seriously wanting to see the stock version for sale and the upgrade cost for the 5-Axis kit.

my '05 TCM xB was totalled the week before thanksgiving by a drunk driver, and i need to know if i should jump on an '06 or wait till 2007...

If you like the boxiness then go for the 06. Scion is scheduled for nation wide release in two months. So if you can hold out for that amount of time you can decide for yourself.

There were 2 guys in front of me at the unveiling and they both were snapping pictures with there phones..........you knew someone would find a way! We will see if they have the ........"guts" to post them before the 60 days is up!

So funny at the unveiling...some fools tried to bring in some spy cams and got busted at the entrance. There were about 15 people who got caught, escorted back to the bus to be brought back to the hotel.

I was pretty disappointed when I heard that someone had posted pics on SL yesterday. I guess it wasn't true though.

Here's an excellent observation from someone on clubxb.com.


Here's what I saw on the 2008 Scion xB:

Exterior: 5 Axis body kit (will be available thru the dealer)
19" Volks (bronze) with 235-35-19 five lug rims
Four Wheel Disc Brakes (poss. from the Celica)
'06 Camry door handles
Turn signals in the mirrors
Basic front and rear T2B morphed with the xB on the sides (the rear
most side glass is gone now)
Lowering Springs
Ambiant temp sensor in front of the condensor:)

Headlights: Projector on the outside (highs)
Low beam bulbs you can see and they're 9006's
turn signal bulbs on the inside 1157's
Black background like the tC's
Taillights: Kind of look like the T2B but they stick out about 1/2 inch
They're RED
Reverse light 3" round and located on driver's side rear bumper

Engine: 2.4L:) (we got the model to open the hood for us and Troy[from 5
axis] ran over to close it but I still got a good look)

Interior: tC Key with the fob built into the key
Cupholders are flared into the lower pockets (one in each door)
Armrest
Doorlock built into the center of the door latch
Shifter is raised like the Matrix (the one I saw was an Automatic)
Larger Cargo Area also flush when you open the door (not stepped
like on our xB's)
Cargo space under rear seats


Sound System: Speakers :tweeters on the backside of where the mirror
mounts like on the lexus
Speaker in each door
Double Din Radio
Steering Wheel Controls

i left mine in my hotel room when i found out that there were metal detectors and wands. the SL pics were only a rumor.

I transfer from Chicago in two years and what do you know......My xB1 is paid off in 2 and a half years. So as soon as I get settled at my new duty station in 09 I will be purchasing my xB2. Maybe an RS version if they continue the tradition. Yeah!!
