I have an 08 xB and all four rotors seem to be seized to the wheel hubs. I pounded on them for a half hour with a hammer and they are not budging a bit. Any suggestions to help free them?

try wd40 or pb penetrating lube blaster which you should be able to find at any auto parts store or walmart. Let that soak for a while then try again with the rubber mallet..... Hopefully not a small sledge, then you would need to definitely need to replace the rotors .:p

yeah if your pounding on the friction surface with a hammer, the rotors will need to be replaced.

Tried WD-40, let it soak for a day and still rusted together pretty good, not moving a bit.

Not pounding on friction surface, pounding the face and around the hub. But, I am trying to replace the rotors anyway.
Thanks for the suggestions though... Any others?
I can't believe how bad these things are rusted together on a 2yr old car?!?!

WOW I went thru the same thing with my Expedition. I had to beat them off with a sledge and some heat. Can't say what that did to the wheel bearings. Man I was planning to upgrade my rotors don't know if i wanna even try now. Are there any jack holes in the rotors? extra threaded holes that you insert bolts into and turn them in and they jack the rotors off the hub? Some do and some don't have these.

You've got an '08. Shouldn't this be a warranty issue? How did the rotors sieze anyway, was the car not driven for a long period and in a moisture-rich environment?

Here's what you do...
Tap LIGHTLY (with a little bit of elbow-grease) around the outside edge (on the cooling "fans") while pulling on the opposite side that you're tapping on. Do this all the way around the rotors and each one should eventually give-way. I've had this issue on plenty of cars that I've worked on (helps that I'm NATEF-Certified and have been for almost 5 years).

Isn't there threaded holes on the rotors? I am pretty sure the tC has threaded holes. That way, you just find the correct sized bolt and screw it in. It pops the rotor right off.

This is common with brake rotors, they rust onto the wheel hubs.

Thank you, I will try that if the bolt idea below does not work!

I know for a fact the front do have these holes and I never thought about threading a screw in there to pop them off, that makes so much sense now! Thank you! I hope the rear has these!
