I just wanted to post up my experience I had today with Elemental Designs. Let me start by saying that I know very little about stereos and the only contact with Elemental Designs prior to this was when Chris (Mandos) came to a few Scion events.

Cliff's Notes:
-Elemental Designs has a very nice shop
-They treat their customers very well
-They have a lot of patience for people who have no clue about car audio
-They take time out of their work day to show the customers their products
-Always making new innovations in sound
-EXTREMELY REASONABLE PRICING
-Shop dogs are cool

I have been wanting to add a little bump to my ride for a while now, but didn't want to sacrifice any trunk space and I wanted something fairly lightweight and small. After hearing initial reports on the new ED SQ-10 sub, I decided it would be worth looking into. It was exactly what I was looking for and after they posted the price ($55), there was no reason for me to say no. After talking with Ben (Nebster) and then AIM conversations with Chris, I finally made my decision to buy one. I had several AIM conversations with Chris as well as numerous PM's on ScionLife asking questions about how I should go about setting up my system. I figured I would have gotten annoying after a while, but Chris was always cheerful and had quick answers for my questions.

I was talking with him yesterday afternoon on AIM and he said that the SQ-10's had just come in and they were doing quality control testing on them as he was typing my message. So today, I made the 30 minute drive over to corporate headquarters to pick up my sub and an amp wiring kit (I will be buying an ED amp and components down the road a month or two).

He welcomes me to the shop and gives me a quick walkthrough of the production floor where the guys were boxing up subs. There were pallets of subs and other electronic goodies arranged all over the area. It was really a sight to see. Then, Chris showed me the product line up with some new stuff they were working on, including the biggest car audio amp I had ever seen. We walked into the home audio area where he proceeded to show me the largest home audio speaker box I had ever seen.

Of course, all of the equipment leading up to this wasn't hooked up and just looked pretty. So we walk into the home audio room along with the shop dog, Dawson (he loves loud speakers). He shows me the new home audio sub they are working on. This thing was insane. He hooked up a 1,000 watt amp to it and it almost looked like it was begging for more. He said it was for frequencies between 10 and 30 hertz. You can't hear it, but you sure can feel it. Not surprising from a sub with a cone that has nearly 6 inches of travel.

He invites me to sit down in one of the three leather recliners (very comfy) and he turns on the very large HD-TV and pops in a Lord of the Rings DVD. First, we watch the part in the beginning with the fireworks. Mind you, we had the massive sub going as well as their surround sound system. It sounded absolutely amazing. I love the movie, but I found myself focusing on the amazing sound more than the movie. Then, we go to the part where the goblins attack in the Dwarven city followed by the attack of the big firey dude (Berloc?). It was really cool to hear the goblin arrows whistling around me and ground literally shaking as the rock bridge broke away.

Overall, it was really cool and it was fun seeing all of the stuff they are currently making and will be making. I advise everyone to take a look at their products. They are a terrific company and definately put the customer first. If you decide to buy their great products, I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed.

(Also note that I am NOT sponsored by ED so this isn't a sponsorship plug. I just wanted to let everyone know my experiences I had with them.)
