TRD is way overpriced. I have used both the Megan and NST SSK's in my car.

Megan - Gives you a shorter throw and lowers the height of the stick quite a bit. You have to replace the shifter itself which requires more work (the crown on the cage is a bitch to get off). However, this is the cheaper option (around $60-70)

NST SSK - Uses the stock shifter with the SSK put on the bottom of it. This piece makes the bottom part of the shifter longer so it shortens your shifts considerably. This is good for people the race/autocross because the stick is at stock height and easily reachable. You do not need to remove the shifter from the cage which is easier than the Megan. You will probably need to unbolt the cage from the car to turn it on its side to get the SSK on though. It is really easy though. Very high quality piece and is what I currently have in my car. Cost is around $100.

I say go with the Doc Isotope short shifter... I love it. Throws are about 60% shorter than stock. The install was eay and it gave me a 2.5" drop over the stock height of the shifter

What did you end up getting?

I have Dr Iso and he is the best. for the price, you get all, cage risers, shifter bushings and the shifter. Da Best!

Well I haven't ordered one yet but most likely I will b getting that doc iso one....mainly for the shorter shaft, as the trd has shorter thro then stock but shaft is stock height

you wont regret it, but a word of advice. don't get it too short, right now i had the one i ordered be 2.5 inches shorter then stock and when shifting, it gets very hard, it looks awesome but hard and some shift knobs feel crappy.

It is not that hard to put in the cage and other stuff, but please follow his DIY to do it because it can get very hard. I like many others chipped some plastice off but nothing crazy until i saw his used a flat tool to help pry and i was angry for not listening LoL just post up if you need anymore help. but everything else like risers and shift linkage bushings are really fast and easy

i have twm stage 2 short shift with base bushings, tranny bushings, and stainless clutchline; biotch shifts like a dream!!! best upgrades by far.

since you already bought the doc iso's shifter, you should go to twm.com and get the tranny bushings and shifter base bushings....you will thank me, makes the shifts solid as a drum (they are brass instead of rubber)and not mushy ;and the clutchline from ebay keeps the pedal consistent all the time.

Well got it installed today and so far it rides really nice and shifts really smooth. The only thing I didn't do were the cable bushings, I hope that won't be a big issue, I will drive it around and see, and if I have to change I have the bushings to change if need be....thanx again guys

x2 the cable bushings(tranny bushings) are quick and easy to install, takes the play outa the shifter, you dont have to get them, but for the price, def. worth it.

and dont forget the clutchline, makes the perfect trifecta.

Increased force required to shift gears. You get used to it, but the first week is rough.

Not as much leverage available the shorter it gets.

A weighted shift knob will help, as do shifter cage bushings.

is the TRD quick shifter featured as an add-on over at the scion website also a short shifter ?

I think the TRD quick shiter is a shorter throw shifter offer 20% shorter throws. It's sill above $335 before dealer installation. However, since it's TRD it will still retain the warranty. I would see if you can get a better deal for eBay @ around $269 or so. Warranty is soo important. Take it from someone with experience over these aftermarker installs.

Im using Axxtion short throw shifter. It is installed under the hood so u dnt have to take apart ur shifter boot. Im still using my stock shifter coz i like the shifter height but my throw is really really short. U can isntall for 10-15min. For $75bucks its the best STS ive used.

I agree, I have the stage 2 kit with base and shifter bushing and love it over stock. Not really much force required to shift, I can shift with 1 finger through 1-4, 5 requires a little effort but that is normal.
