what a difference it makes to have a little experience, and the right tools. the latter being slightly more beneficiary of the two. right off the bat, the idling was a huge improvement. the idling is nice and consistent, with no stalling when parked. there is still stalling with high boost and drop, but thats expected (atmospheric BOV). charge pipe rubs a little at high rpms, but i can fix that by clocking the turbo ever so slightly. again, the car still rips, but its more of a piece of mind quality this time knowing everything is tightened to torque specs. hopefully by the end of the week, i'll have put all my gauges in the pod. hopefully next week, i'll have it tuned (i still need someone to help me wire emanage.) here are some pics of jets hot work. thanks for looking. oh and some pics of my new wheels.

its a zpi stage 0. i bought it for 2400. i think now its 2700 or so. yes the 16g is a very nice little turbo, spools fast. take note though, youre going to have to invest in fuel management and an intercooler. zpi says it works without one, but ive found that its not so true. no problems except CEL (po172 "stuck rich"), which can be eliminated with emanage/tune, and stalling after high boost and drop. that is due to the atmospheric BOV. i think zpi has recirculated the BOV to eliminate this issue, but im not sure. i hope that once its tuned, it wont stall. all in all im happy with it, as its a learning experience. i wouldnt have been satisfied had i paid someone to slap on my turbo.
oh and by the way: no the charge pipe does not hit the hood at all. it just looks higher than really is. it doesn rub some on the firewall, but im going to fix that by reclocking the turbo, and pulling the pipe down some. small price to pay for 247 whp.
next up:
wire emanage, pressure sensor, mount wideband, mount oil pressure gauge, get bung welded for wideband, route intercooler piping, and buy intercooler. than i am done with the engine...for now.

I would rather save up for the Turbonetics kit or the Greddy. I'm not trusting ZPI at this point. Too many people have put in orders with no result.

 no comment. read the fine print, "i am very happy with my turbo." it was a struggle, but i got through it, and i couldnt be happier with a evo III 16g. as a not so former newbie, im here to help anyone with anxiety about the zpi kit, or getting a turbo in general. i believe my turbo is a success story that started with problems from the start, but as any virtue of patience will teach you, all things fall into place (as long as you have the money to buy the parts)... :rofl2:
