Hello, my tC has yet to see snow, and living where i do i should expect it to start snowing any day now. Well how does your tC handle in the snow? I'm on stock rubbers and the 17's. I really don't want to buy steelies and snow tires, though I'm up to the task if the cars don't fare well in the snow.

well to tell you one thing..i don't drive in the snow lol i hate snow but if i had to it handles pretty good. i'm acutally thinking for this winter getting a set of wheels and having the front ones studded. but i've had to drive it in the snow and to tell you the truth..its not too bad in snow. :)

If you don't want to pony up the money for steelies and snows, at least get some ultra-high performance all-season tires, like the Avon Tech M550's that both me and EddNog use. They're great tires and very grippy. Since our cars put down a lot of torque to the wheels, you WILL be spinning tires in the snow, but that's not too bad. I'd stay away from using the stock tires though - they're horrible as it is in wet conditions... I wouldn't even wanna try snow.

I have an RS1 that came with stock 18's and I was on those last winter. The tires were just a little too wide once the roads got really slick, but did surprisingly well for the most part. I want to get my rims repainted this winter (they got lots of chips from driving over the past year) so I picked up a set of cheap stock rims and tires for this winter. They hit their first snow this weekend and did very well. If you are concerned about your rims, I would suggest getting a second set. You can usually find them for a decent price here on the boards or on ScionLife.

I have defiantly noticed that in the rain that the car can put some serious torque to the ground and break it loose with little effort. I'm sure that with driving style changes i can limit that quite a bit.

Don't change your driving style - change the tires. Honestly, the Potenzas/Turanzas are horrid.

I just moved out of upstate NY, and I'd have to agree.
The tC handles well, but change out the stock tires.
They are made from poo.

I ran aftermarket rims + summer tires for 3 seasons and stock wheels + Blizzaks for winter driving. With all the snow/ice we see they came in pretty handy. I was able to keep up with my Gf's AWD Passat and very few cars can :)

I took mine snow drifting once, pretty fun.. but from someone who doesn't mind driving in snow, its ok, surely not the best...
Just remember, AWD doesn't always mean your going to be ok in the snow or ice, you are just on 4 skates instead of 2...
