For some reason my hood on my 2004 scion xb wont open i did a oil change a week ago and it opened fine now when i try to open it it does nothing the wire is connected to the latch Ive tried to pull the hood up and it still does nothing has anybody else seen this before or any ideas don't feel like going to the dealership

i am having the same problem. i changed my oil yesterday and i tried opening the hood this afternoon to check the battery since i forgot to yesterday and it wont open at all. the hoodlatch cable is still attached but doesnt seem to release the hood when i pull it. any ideas or suggestions on how to resolve this?

same thing happened to my tc recently. i dunno how u do it but ur not supposed to close the hood by lifting it a few inches into the air and letting it drop to close. i think this breaks the mechanism that locks the hood. good news is that it is covered by ur warranty but just make sure when u get it fixed, the hood latch is the way it was originally. whoever fixed it on my car didn't do it completely right because there's not much tension pulling on the latch so it's sorta looks like its been pulled. i'll have this fixed whenever i do my interval maintenance at the dealership next time.
