You Help Design Custom Products For The TC

So I am going to manufacture some custom products specifically for the tC.

All of these products will be high quality direct replacements. No sending in your stock parts for a swap. They will be made on a production line, so they will need to be as universal as possible to maintain economics.

I've had some ideas to start with simple projects:

Different color mirror signals - (Price for a set could range from $20 to $50)
* Keep the stock amber color LEDs, but add more LEDs for off-road/show use.
* Could easily put in R/G/B LEDs and a controller for inside the car. This would solve the problem of stocking a bunch of different colors. The user could just "key" in the color they want, or let it run through a color cycle.
* It wouldn't be a simple swap, but would require door panel removal, and running some wires into the car.

Different third brake light - (Price could range from $50 to $100)
* LEDs that go all the way across instead of just the middle section.
* For show use, could make it have a knight rider scanner effect
* Of for something really crazy, could do an Iceled million color scanner effect

Grab handle on interior door panel trim - the piece with that little circle of chrome trim - (Price for a set could range from $30 to $50)
* I thought it would be cool to have that piece made but have the plastic inside the chrome ring be frosted translucent
* Could use million color LEDs behind there for a nice glow
* Could make the whole inner area glow, or cut out a logo, so just the logo/text glows.
* Thought about using the Scion logo, but am worried about trademark issues
* Could use the Oznium.com logo, but not sure if it would have enough appeal
* If was the whole inner circle had glow, then it would be possible to put a vinyl overlay over it, so you could have any logo lit up.

I have ideas for more advanced projects, but want to see how this simpler stuff works out first. Other ideas include full LED tails and projector headlights.

So I'd like to get your feedback about these 3 product ideas. What would you like to see?

I like the third tail light change idea. The solid illumination rather than just the middle is a lot better and would make the back light up better for other cars to see you braking.

I also think another idea should be thrown in. 5 Axis made a widebody kit for the tC but never decided to put it into production. I think permission should be saught and the widebody kit made available.

Third break light is my top choice. But all of them sounds great.

i like the 3rd brake idea and maybe a switch or something so u could have your led's enabled for show or street purposes. That'd be pretty slick.

Third brake light would be awesome, especially if you can make the lights change patterns with a control box. Like knight rider panel, pulsing, center then bleed out to edges etc ... That way you can be different from the rest or set it to random so each time you hit the brakes the pattern changes ...

Colored mirror signals would be fun to have, but it's not as high a priority in terms of lighting for some of us. BUT.... if you could offer smoked replacements which do lighting too, that would increase interest.

The 3rd Brakelight is the hardest thing to mod right now. Karl's done 2 of them so far, and will be doing mine too (We always run out of time). A simple drop-in replacement is the best! Smoked option too! I'd go for Solid bar illumination, plus color changing and scanner type effects as well.

As for the door handles.... I already kinda custom worked something up - if you snap/dremel off the prongs you can double-sided tape one of the stock tC wheel center caps right in that hole - it fits perfectly in that hole.

Something glowing right there would distract me a little, though.

Projector headlights are what I want the most right now. Good ones, though, not the cheap eBay crap that's out right now. The only one worth my time is the Umnitza projectors, and who knows when (or even if) they're gonna be released. Simple projectors, clear (NOT COLORED!), with a GOOD cutoff, and no tacky led stuff like in the eyebrows. If you want a good example of projectors, look at EddNogs :D

Other things you might want to think of are engine bay lighting (heat resistant? I've seen some cathode tubes warp) and trunk lighting. Also supply LED Bulbs for the parking lights and interior lights.

ALL projectors for the tC out right now are fugly!
the best projectors woould look just like the stocks but with a projector in the lowbeam hole and maybe angel eyes. (which are just what the umnitza's are looking like)

and nick! they already have good engine bay lighting options!

Your ideas so far are definitely good....

I would add White as an option in the mirrors.....as that is a highly desired color to match HIDs/white turn signals etc. Note there is a main problem with switching to leds in the mirrors and thats they go dead.....due to the door opening and shutting....i really wanted to do this mod myself but after reading everyones problems i backed off.....here is the thread....this is a problem that needs to be addressed!!!

the thrid brake is a great idea with the scanner option and/or pulsing mode etc.

Another idea would be to try to fabricate some led door sills.....there are plenty of ways to enhance the sills!!!
