As with any mod there are consequences. I have been looking into this for some time. You will feel it mostly in heavy turning from the research I have read. Most company don't recommend more than a half roof. But if you don't drive like it's a ferrari then you theoreticaly should be good.

I'm diggin this idea. $500.00. I can do that.

I think I would ad my own extra sheetmetal where ever possible on the in side. Hate to tweek the box. :blink2:

You should do your box Jon. Get a custom matched camo top made.

i read that after a while the roof started sagging and a lot of the people selling/installing them stopped because of the sag that was happening to a lot of them. but that was a while back...

i believe that is why the glass roofs are really hard to find, because of the weight of one of thse to the weight of the ragtop.....

back in high school, i had a '63 VW type I (beetle) with a stock sliding sunroof like those. man i fucking loved that thing. it was always open, year-round. only closed it in really heavy rain. after i sold the car (still kicking myself for that one) i've always wanted another roof like that (not to mention the car) and have considered putting one in every car i've ever owned since then. never have done it but have been thinking really hard about putting it in the B.

Nah, it might mess with that whole clean lines thing I'm going for.......lol.

I wish I had gone ahead and shaved the door handles when I got it painted.

Here's a pic of the prototype for my B. I have one currently 35 x 44 I think, power. Never had a problem, never leaked, survived three hurricanes in the open. With the one I'm putting in now, while not specified, I am cros bracing the roof for lateral support, so as it goes in (Next Week) I'll get pictures of the install. Enjoy the shot of the finished product.

Laterz,

Ivan

i would think a small one would fit in the A

How much .. well hard to pin point. However the mod itself is not hard to do, I know that sounds scary, but it's only a straightline cut. I can see a show charging about $600 to install one, plus the cost of the roof.

As far as the xA, the one I took out which was electric would probably a perfect fit because it is bowed to match the roof on the xA. It was made my Analfa I believe, if interested I'll look to be certain ..

Thanks for the comments ...

Ivan
