I installed a Viper 160XV remote start unit in my 05 xB yesterday, and it works well. However, the heater (and instrument cluster) does not come on (when remote started) until the key is turned to "on". The radio does come on. The orange "accessory" wire of the Viper relay box is connected to the blue/red "accessory" wire of the xB.

Is there another "Heater" wire that needs to be connected? Will that require a separate relay?

Thanks.

Solved. The Pink/White Viper wire is not energizing. Defective refurbished unit. Reversed pink/white with the orange to get heater running under remote start. Will see whether the internet dealer or DEI will honor the warranty.

Did you ever get your relay pack replaced? I know DEI will usually not warranty anything that is purchased online(I'm an authorized Viper dealer). Hopefully whoever you bought it from will take care of you. That's always the drawback to buying stuff online, most of the people selling this stuff are selling b-stock or refurbished products, and they usually have no warranty.

The Internet dealer did agree that he would replace the (refurbished) unit under warranty for me if needed.

According to the folks on the12volt, the pink/white gets fed from the red/white. But, since the install manual says that the red/white is only for "extra current if needed", I hadn't connected it. The folks on the12volt staunchly maintain that the red/white is used to power the pink/white.

As soon as I get a warm day (it's mid-20's here in Buffalo this morning), I'll tie in the red/white and see what happens.

But for now, the heater comes on as wired (I left the radio to come on with the actual key), so my wife's happy.

Yes you definately have to hookup the Red/white stripe wire. It does feed the pink/white stripe wire. Glad to see you got everything worked out.
