I have an 08 xB on Tanabe DF210's, been having an issue that feels like an "egg" in one of my tires (which were worn on the inside) so I got an alignment and new tires. Problem was still there and exactly the same. So I go to my stealership and the look at my car for all of 15 minutes and say "Both front CV Axles are bad and they need to be changed, it was cause by the drop and so we're not gonna cover it under warrenty" I asked what was exactly wrong with teh axles and they said "They are pushed in too far and its cause cause you change the camber whan you dropped it, anytime you drop it it will do that, there's only like 1/2 inch of play in those things" So I ask, WTF?? And then go to OUR dealership that sponsors us. They look at ita nd say "Yea your drivers side CV axle is leaking, we'll change it under warrenty" they also tighten some bolts and stuff and its in the shop now waiting on parts. So...

Anyone have or had any issues similar to this with the 08 xB's with a drop, or without even? Cause I just don't see how dropping the box would cause the CV Axles to go out.

I only have about 6400 miles on mine and I have not had any problems... yet. I am rather abusive on vehicles. I have run my box pretty hard several times. I am not sure what parts they used when they lowered it either.

Sounds like the first stealership was trying to make an excuse to make some extra $$$$.

Yea I've had my car for over a year and have 40,500 miles on it. I lowered it at around 24,000 miles so its been dropped for awhile. While I haven't really driven it hard I do drive it a lot and have run over some things that have scraped it up pretty good but I try and avoid big potholes and all that as much as possible. Now, right before the problems happened I was coming back from New Orleans on I-10 and hit a HUGE expansion joint where an overpass meets the road, that was pretty hard but I didn't think it was THAT bad so, I dunno, maybe that caused the issues. Luckily our sponsor dealership is covering the repairs under warranty even though I'm dropped. Yea, they rock...

If you get a chance to ask... find out if they think it was caused by lowering or just an abnormal wear. It would be good to know another dealers opinion. It's not like to Toyota corporation knows what each vehicle looks like that the dealers work on. Warranty parts and service are covered by the corporation not the dealers. You would think they would accept any work and not make excuses when they know the tab is covered. I use to have a 99 Z28 that had plenty of mods to it. All Star Chevy in BR must have rebuild that cheap ass rear axle 4 times. They never questioned it. I am thinking they just like taking it for test drives.

Funny side note - when I purchased it, the dealer took me and my now ex-wife for the test drive. When he pulled out on Sherwood Forest the car was sideways as he smoked the tires through second gear. I looked over at him and he was giggling. Scared the shit out of the lil woman, but it was the perfect sales pitch to me!

Ok, I only had to get the drivers side axle changed. The mechanic said it had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DROP! He said somehow the inner boot got cut which caused the fluid to get flung out and then of course, it went bad. Could have happened when they installed my springs but could have just been something I hit in the road. It was covered under the powertrain warranty so didn't cost me a dime.

:v:Awesome news and good to hear.:toast:
Thanks for following up it.... as you can tell I really have nothing more to say... hmm... looks like a poor excuse to score more post.

Regardless, good to know the dealers are not looking for some excuse to not work repairs.
