What a day... Boss is gone, and I'm tired of sitting here so I think I'm going to leave too...
I'll be back on later tonight to do some more stuff and also try and get the NOMD and SOMD MySpace pages up and running, or at least started.
Going to be a bunch of admin type things poppin off over the next couple months mainly, sponsorship talks and trying to make this 2008 season one for the ages...
Matt, thanks bro for hookin that up man... gives me something to do at work the rest of the week haha!

:coolp: Yeah man, I noticed our registered members are over 100+ so that's great! I think now that we're a two part state, we've got a better chance at locking stuff down...
First line of business is sponsorships. Waldorf has already shown interest in the club, already done stuff with the club... Steve, if anyone up there has those connects at some of those dealerships up there to make something happen, get the ball rolling now... Having two dealerships will be ideal for the Maryland Scikotics as a whole, individually it'll allow us to have two different resources available, giving us a better chance at shirts, banners, entry to events, dealership sponsored events, CAT events, etc. I'm sure John Jr. and Sr. still want to make things happen, cause it benefits them as well since we're so deep. Now we've grown throughout the region I've noticed as well, Virginia has two chapters as well... this could be a great thing for cannon ball runs through the Mid-Atlantic region in late spring, early summer... idea that's been brewin in my head for a bit now. More on that at a later date of course ;]
I'm excited to get this thing on and poppin again, I had to regroup and get myself in a better position, I think I've accomplished that and I got my head on a little tighter... Brian and I are going to do big things for the SOMD crew, and I know Steve and your V will do outstanding up there... collectively we'll shut shit down, period!
I'm tired of just sitting on the same mods on my shit, so I'm going to start collecting my mods bit by bit... starting with my body and turbo. Brian, I'll be looking to do some fiberglassing in the near future... I wanna play and learn haha... I got a few things I'd like to try and do in my interior.

No problem, I've got extra resin and mat. Your first mod should be a new lower grill.
Stu_Gotti
12-20-2007, 12:09 PM
Yeah, I'm going to see if Rob will give me his stock front end, have my brother paint it when he's here if possible and get that on, then get my billet grill for the bottom, then I can start my lip kit and splitters. Then turbo, etc.
Diddy is coming down on Saturday, we're going to do some photo shots down at Solomons, but obviously your whip is damaged, but I'll give you a holla, we can all meet up.
vettereddie
12-20-2007, 12:38 PM
It's not damaged anymore, just has the stock lip back. The only thing that got busted up was the K-style fiberglass lip. I've already pulled it and put the plastic one back on, it just has a few scratches in it and shouldn't show up in a photo. Let me know when you go, I need some decent pics with the smoked headlights and tails.
vettereddie
12-20-2007, 12:39 PM
Ordered some Redline hood dampers and some keyhole and wiper plugs as well, not sure if they would be on by then, but it'll just keep getting better.

12-20-2007, 01:28 PM
Alright, thats whats up! I'll try and figure a time out when we can all meet up and cruise over there. I'll go scope the area out tonight and see if they have access to that area Heath and I took pics at.

Some jackass tried to revv on me yesterday, WTF? They were in a red honda civic, 98 I think, with a fart can muffler, and I'm pretty sure American Racing rims. Was at the light in the left at San Suchi, took off a little fast I guess and passed them, so they run up next to me, revv real loud and get in the next lane at the donut connection light. Like I'm going to race them in the middle of Lex Park right outside of Gate 2. That's just stupid, hopefully they got busted for the annoying-ass exhaust. I just turned off onto Great Mills road since I was going that way to get a Gyro.
Second thing, I drive a toaster and he doesn't know it's supercharged, with the silencer in the exhaust is quiet. What kind of dick tries to race a car with an Echo engine in it. Wow, you beat the most enemic engine since the Festiva, congratulations.
I'm going to start carrying around MIR business cards, so when this crap happens I can pass them out and tell them to meet me at the next test & tune, friggin morons. Once tax season hits, I'll be on the juice with an extra 20 shot and the real fun will begin.
sparkytC
12-21-2007, 11:12 AM
haha thats freakin funny im not familar with the area but the only ppl i know that drive honda rice burners now a days are mexicanos or young kids with a beat up b-16 in em thats been ran for 50,000 hard miles .... helll my s**t is bone stock and i still get ppl tryin to run with me
The_Game
12-21-2007, 11:24 AM
I get loads of people to run against me to man. A red honda civic wit a busted a$$ sounding exhaust and it had black spary painted rims .. i whipped him a good one wit my stock tC .. I have handed every civic against me which is like 5 or 6 total .. civics are slow and pathetic. That kid was dumb to think he had anything on you brian.
Now when a mustang pulls up beside me and wants to race i am like WTF .. a V-8 vs. a stock 4 banger ..lol.. thats a real race right there .. dumba$$es in this county. I mite beat him to the punch but thats it.
Stu_Gotti
12-21-2007, 11:59 AM
There is this guy with a silver tC around here, has the buddy club kit, he tried running me but knows whats up...
Almost got me arrested the other night haha! :threat:
vettereddie
12-21-2007, 12:04 PM
I'm pretty sure the tC would beat the V6 Stang to 60 mph. That thing is an embarrasment to the Mustang, I wish they would keep it a strictly V8 platform. It's not like people are trying to buy it for the gas mileage The Mustang as a whole is my favorite car model, if I ever find a 67 fastback at a good price it will be my new kit / show vehicle, I just wish they'd keep all the models with somewhat decent performance. I like the look of the new one, but I drove a friends and I can't stand the visibility, big ass visible hood, bad C-pillar view, tiny rear window. Also, the seats suck for longer drives, it will beat you up a bit.
My brother and his wife both have Civics and they don't drive like morons, I just don't understand some people. At least no one's been the jealous type yet to hate on me and then key or trash my car, I'd be taking someone to court for that dumb shit.

12-21-2007, 12:12 PM
Haha, man I'm friggin bored at home on my day off... COD4 has worn on me already and I've gotta itch to just sleep for a bit.. take a nap since my bro flys in at friggin 1240am.
I really would like to get the stock bumper from Rob and see if my brother can paint it, that would be awesome to have done before show season so I can get my lip kit, splitters and fogs.

Found this review of the xB "classic" on Kelly Blue book and thought I'd share it. They describe it as "There are lots of toys on the market for personalizations. It's kind of like lego for adults." it even looks like a lego car!

Hey everyone gotta question. Just got all my christmas money and was thinking about getting the body kits. I was also thinking about getting some suspension stuff. But just having a hard time trying to decide. I'm leaning towards the kit, but just want some other opinions.
The_Game
12-27-2007, 01:04 PM
Well if you want a body kit its goin to cost ya around $2000 or more!! Cuz ya got to get the kit than ya got to get it painted!! If ya go suspension wise by lowering it its way cheaper than that .. like $190 tops for the springs than varies on the putting them on prices!
tCCrazy06
12-27-2007, 03:49 PM
I no that bout the kit, and with the suspension i'd go springs, struts, sway bars and strut bar. but i think that the kit would help me out more in shows since i have the doors.
The_Game
12-27-2007, 09:23 PM
Yea cuz since you got the doors like stu said your in extreme classes now man!! So the body kit would help .. your going to need an extreme one though!!

hey everyone, just wanted to say that the holidays over in waldorf were ok, how about everyone else's. Well I was just watching the weather and its supposed to be real nice this weekend. Maybe we could get together and hang out then go watch the redskins over at damons or something
Stu_Gotti
01-03-2008, 07:17 AM

Lemme know, I really want to watch the Skins on a big screen. Damons, maybe Buffalo Wings and Beer in the new Leonardtown location, or even the Green Turtle in Waldorf / La Plata with a 4:30 Sat kick-off time. I'd suggest Hooters but lets face it, their wings suck. Also, with the focus on the wait staff, I'm not sure if the TV's are equally endowed.

Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Bullshit, you didn't convince me, let me see your REAL war face!
Private Joker: AHHHHHHHHHHH!

How bout that Skins game? Sure the Skins fans are pissed! JAX looked pretty damn good up until the start of the 2nd half.. they pulled it out though.. watch out Indy and NE...
Titans and Chargers today, and NY and Tampa Bay... I'm picking the Chargers over the Titans, and of course the Giants pulling out a miracle once again.

 I know, I wanted to go but I was so exhausted...
My roommate Bo left for NC the other day and left his damn wolf for my other roommates and I to look after... well he got out and when he gets out he doesn't like to be caught, so he runs and hides... wouldn't be an issue with me if it weren't for the fact we've already got some heat from neighbors and animal patrol... so needless to say I stayed up and chasing this damn thing until 330AM Sunday... finally caught him after going to bed and getting up the next morning...
How was it though?

I'm going to be swamped the rest of this week at work... we're moving my warehouse to another location, so I've got to move it, inventory it all again and get used to this new place.
I got a fine group project as well for class, that's always NEVER fun!
I'll be in and out throughout the day when I'm being overtaken by my A.D.D. to see whats up! Ciao!

Where the hell is everyone? I had a great weekend, went to Baltimore friday and picked up a spare motor from the guy with the 350 Chevy V-8 in his xB. It came with the transmission bolted on, alternator, water pump, all the hoses and even the sensors and plugs. haven't decided if I want to build it up yet or just keep it as a spare. I'll be painting the valve cover eaither way though.
Spent the rest of the week trying to finish the new speaker box and amp rack, it came out decent enough wrapped in the same polyester neoprene fabric that's on the seat covers. Couldn't get it completely smooth because of the shape so there is one overlap spot :( I still need to mount the amp and crossovers, 2x subs will be hella nice though. Once the other side is built, I'll go ack and paint them.
Don't forget to vote tomorrow and valentine's day is thursday. Michelle wants diamonds but I want nitrous, wish my refund was here already.

That reminds me of the Chevette I saw an a Chevy show with my dad last year- it had a 350 in it too. The engine probably weighed more than the rest of the car :mro:

Got my self a lil heart burn @ 3am on a Saturday, so I'd catch myself up with some board action...
Meet is coming soon, keep an eye on that thread.
I got a site and a new hoodie that has any image you want on it for a decent price... going to be talking to Waldorf Scion soon about this idea I have.
Other than that, whats up ya'll? I was on travel the last week in Michigan, -24 to 35 degree's with the wind chill factor... average of 0 most of the time. My bosses parents house [father is deceased] had 2 different water bursts... I had to chop a 3' wide ice cicle from the top/underside of the deck, to the bottom... pretty wild! There was about 10 inches of snow, the temps were sick! Well the pipe in the kitchen under the sink blew and soaked the control module from the furnace, shutting all heat off to the little house, then it froze and a bathroom pipe blew an entire wall from the frame, soaking the entire upstairs carpet and puttin about 3" of water downstairs, taking paint and book shelves and pics off the walls... easily $28K worth of damage...
Make things worse, his mother had a medical issue, not sure of what exactly, but was hospitalized because she reacted to the news...

It's been a rough month on my bank account, picking up the spare engine, replacing the in-dash touchscreen since the old one died, paying off the credit card from christmas and had my insureance payment due again :(
I'll be somewhat broke for the next two weeks, but got my taxes done and once I eFile sould get about 3k back. Think I'm done buying parts for the xB for a while, any work for the next few months will be home-built. I really want to finish this wrap before the march show, I'll see how it goes time and funds-wise. Spring Showdown, March 22 at the Roanoke Civic Center will be my first show. I can't stand the rules and cost associated with Tunerwars, and Pennsylvania is a pain to drive to and back from on the same day, especially when the shows go until 8 or later.
I'll be passing on HIN as well, it seems to be more of a trade event / entertainment venue than a car show. I know they want to create the tuner "scene" but it seems forced and over-commercialized, and not accessable to the everyday Joes like us who also want to be in the show.

I'd still like to have it in Waldorf, but obviously if that falls through, we'll have to find something to do... depending on weather, I'd LOVE to get the ENTIRE division together for some group shots and individuals. Hey man, glad you're getting your car back. I just lost mine for a bit, broke a piston rod on Saturday. I'm going to see if Toyota will cover it, if not then try Geico, worse case I'll have to do my own engine swap. I've got the engine and a place to do it, but only have nights and weekends so it would probably take two weeks or more.

Well, right now I'm going to have it towed to Bayside Scion in Prince Frederick. They need to do an "authorized teardown" to determine if it's covered under warranty, sucks for me because if it isn't, I'd probably have to pay for the teardown labor, then pay to get it towed back to the house for my own engine swap. Hopefully they can just stick their head under the car, see the giant hole between the oil pan and the transmission, the lower half of the rod hanging from the crank, and see the broken wrist pin mount on the underside of the piston (piston is still in the cylinder) and say, yeah, that's a premature piston failure without having to open it up.

Took it up last night, called today and they have it but no word yet on warranty coverage. The warranty booklet states:
Engine
Cylinder block and head and all internal parts
If there is a gash punched in the block from the inside and not from something external striking it, there shouldn't be much debate.
Alternately, I'm looking for a new oil cap since I'm scrapping the blue color scheme in the engine bay and going all silver / black, I think i may have found it.

Got a call from Bayside Toyota (which is also a Chevy dealer somehow) and they said that having the TRD intake on voids the warranty. I called BS on them and they gave me the national number. I asked if they determined the intake caused the rod to break, and they said they didn't know. To sum it up,
they claim merely having a TRD intake on voids the engine warranty, regardless if it actually leads to failure. The national number said they'd get back to me within one business day.
Larry, can you get me John's number? I have a feeling these guys are playing by Chevy policies and not Toyota ones. Next time I talk to them I'll bring up that it broke while I was bringing my wife back from the hospital, leaving her stranded on the side of the road and potentially being hit while in her wheelchair by oncoming traffic.

Just called Scion of Puyallup, where I ordered the intake, and asked specifically if the TRD CAI for the 06 xB would violate the warranty. They said, 'No, that would not void the warranty'. I think I may have found a worse dealer than SoMD for warranty issues. If I get to much crap, I'm towing it to Waldorf.

Ended up e-mailing Sandra, the SoMD and Va district rep and I think she had the district service manager call the dealership. They no longer hold the position that the TRD intake voids the engine warranty. They now (correctly) agree that the intake itself has no warranty, but needed to have caused the rod failure in order to void the engine warranty. I gave authorization today to have the head removed and the cylinder inspected, the Scion Experience people said they need to rule out water ingestion before authorizing a warranty replacement. It was not raining saturday, nor were there any puddles on the road, so I'm pretty confident they won't find any. Also, the TRD intake has a bypass valve specifically designed to avoid this, there is a link to the testing when it first came out below, they stuck the intake in a fish tank while it was hooked up to an NSX: Result, no blown engine.
http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/tech/0104scc_aem_air_bypass_valve/index.html
I won't find out probably until Monday, but if it's not covered I'm looking at a $550 bill just for inspection and teardown :-(. Keep your fingers crossed.

That's really a tough call..... I'm a warranty manager for a living, and I see this kind of thing every now and then. Someone comes in with a car that has aftermarket parts on it and we inspect it and make a yes or no decision. Now, they DO have to prove that the intake caused the knock, which I doubt it did, but you never know until the entire thing is torn down and inspected. One of my advisors has even let our manufacturer know when people have aftermarket parts on their cars, just as a for-warning of possible problems to come.
I wish you luck, Brian. My opinion is, if they decide not to cover it (for some ODD reason) ask them to atleast help you out (Goodwill of sorts). I'm sure they'll atleast consider this option. No manufacturer wants to loose a customer.

Thanks Anna, I'm still on plan A for now, I still have Plan B and C to go through before I'm really in a bind. Plan B is to go through GEICO, I happen to have mechanical breakdown coverage on the vehicle, so they'd send their own inspector out, and if they don't find abuse of the engine, they can cover the repair costs. I haven't notified the dealer yet because I want to see if they will cover it first, if they knew I had alternatives, they may be less inclined to push for it under warranty. Plan C is to install the other 1NZ-FE engine and transmission I have sitting in my shed, the crank can be turned by hand with the plugs out so it isn't seized. The spare engine has 20k miles on it and would obviously wipe the warranty being used, and self installed.
It just kills me that I bought the TRD intake from a Scion dealer yet they consider it aftermarket. There is apparently an Offroad use only warning in the sales brochure but I believe that is because they couldn't get it to pass CARB in California.
I work in an aircraft component qualification lab, so I was considering running it through X-Ray spectroscopy to look for contaminants in the rod metal, then possibly hit it with ultrasound to look for voids in the casting. We normally do that to look for airframe stress cracks, but it should work on the rod as well. I'm theorizing that it was a bad casting and, if all four rods are from the same batch, they all may be bad. Won't matter much if it's covered though since the whole short block would be replaced.
Here's the clubxb link to some other guy the exact same thing happened to, his was completely covered.

Well, glad you have 2 other plans if the first doesn't work.
Here at my dealership, and I'm sure others, if it's not installed at the dealer, the remaining factory warranty doesn't cover the parts and labor. However, there's usually a 12 month/ 12,000 mile warranty on parts purchased over the counter. (Like, if you got your intake installed at the dealer at 24,000 miles, you'd still have 12,000 miles left on the factory warranty, including the trd part). I know that doesn't really help, but it's just an FYI for future purchases.

Well, finally got an answer on the car. After the head was pulled, it was pretty evident it was completely destroyed. Two of the pistons were twisted in the cylinder, had a crack going all the way across the face of the piston, and valves were bent on two where the pistons had hit them. keep in mind that the xB is a non-interference engine, so the only way they could have hit is if the rod proke and the piston was pushed up further. Toyota is claiming it still isn't covered under warranty, blaming water damage sucked up through the intake (BS to me since it wasn't raining and the road was dry, with the bypass valve installed) but I'm tired of arguing so i called GEICO. They are sending an inspector out Thursday, and as long as they don't find signs of neglect (sludge in the engine, etc) they will cover it. I changed the oil every 5k and, after the hole in the block, there wasn't even enough oil left to get a sample, so i doubt they'll find any issue there. If they agree it's water, it will go under comprehensive, if they don't agree it will be mechanical failure. Either way they should pick it up minus the deductible. I'm hoping thy'll also pick up the cost of the inspection and teardown, now I just need to find a rental for $25 a day.
If GEICO disagrees with Toyota, they'll pay to fix it then negotiate with Toyota afterwards. Toyota never sent out an inspector on corporate, they are relying on the dealer mechanics information, I'm not sure if this is how the policy should work and I was unable to speak to the corporate person who actually made the decision not to warranty.

03-04-2008, 04:09 PM
Well, really wish I was closer to a NOVA dealership, but have to work with who's local. Gonna call again tomorrow to see if i can get an answer on how water ingestion was possible on a dry road, though I suspect they're going to say it could have happened previously to weaken the engine and it just decided to let go on a dry day. Not sure if that's even possible but, if it was indeed water, that's the only way it could have happened. Lot of unanswered questions still, like why water would only have gotten into one cylinder and not all four, how it would have gotten past the bypass valve, and how the hell would it have both twisted and cracked a piston in another cylinder. I won't be f'ing with anything on the engine after this until it's out of warranty, all show and no go from here on out :(. If they drop a new short or long block in, would I be able to keep the engine / powertrain for the remaining 40k miles / 3 years or is that completely shot now?

Well, if it gets picked up under insurance it will probably be done a lot quicker. I can not afford to have my car in the shop for too long, I already had to cancel one of my wife's appointments and had to have her father take her to the other one since he's the only other person I know that can fit her wheelchair in their vehicle. By argueing with the dealer I just piss them off when they are the ones doing the repair, drag out the repair time and her medical care will suffer for it. In the grand scheme of things I'm only out a couple hundred bucks but will have a lot less headache. If GEICO wouldn't pick it up or the repairs got into the thousands then I'd probably try and fight it more.

I am so f'ing pissed off this morning. GEICO called me back and said they agree with the Toyota report that the engine was hydrolocked. I talked to the tech again and asked him where the water would have come from on a dry road and with an air bypass valve installed, and he said he didn't know, but the damage in the engine was clearly caused by water... WTF!!! he even compared it to me setting my house on fire and then trying to file with homeowners insurance. I want to do this to the dealer :qright5:. I can still check with GEICO to see if it would be covered under comprehensive. I've sent an email to John Lawall and will be calling AEM to see how well they back up their bypass valve. (Highly unlikely) but maybe they'd help pick up the cost. The repair quote is $6800. Looks like I may end up having to do an engine swap myself and still be out $550 for inspection costs. Hopefully John, GEICO comprehensive, or even AEM could come through and help out. I've never been in this kind of situation before with such a blatent denial of coverage while things are still under warranty.

Hmm... In a situation like that my man, I would reccomend getting a lawyer and letting whomever it is your talking to know that this will be dealt with accordingly, whether or not that includes the BBB [Better Biz Bureau]...
They have to PROVE, as the M&M act states, that the intake was the direct result of the failure, not just telling you that... there can be tests and things that would constitute as physical evidence that your failure was a result of an intake...
Then of course they've got the option to do you like they did me with the "oh it was negligence" or some shit like that...
I know your in a situation like I was where you need your vehicle not only for yourself, but for you wife as well... I was just financially strapped and couldn't continue without a vehicle... but damn man...
Keep us posted.

GEICO adjuster will be there today or tomorrow to check about comprehensive. Water damage not involving a flood is covered under the policy, so I think that's what they'll file under. I got a rental from GEICO today, I had a $25 / day limit so I'm rockin a Chevy Aveo . This POS has crank windows, but does have genuine plastic imitation carbon fiber door inserts. It gives me a new appreciation to the xB's interior quality.
Again, I don't have the time to fight with the dealer under M&M, I already had to cancel one of Michelle's appointments and have her dad take off work to transport to another one, a $500 co-pay is better than not having a car until April or May.
My only other question so do I have them repair it at Bayside or try and tow it to Waldorf? Taking it to Waldorf would add time and be a pain to coordinate but it could be done. The actual techs at Bayside did seem to a good job with the engine removal even though the service manager was being so difficult and if I move it I may have to pay the inspection and teardown fee from Bayside, right now GEICO should pick it up if they OK the repairs.

The GEICO claims adjuster is finally listening to me. Today I faxed her the Sport Compact Car test where they stuck a CAI hooked up to an NSX with the bypass valve installed and the intake in a fishtank without a filter and it didn't blow the engine, the AEM FAQ on the bypass valve, and the clubxb post where an xB in PA had the same rod failure and they covered it under warranty, attributing it to an oil pump being out of tolerance. Tomorrow I'm sending the weather recording for the day showing no rain, and the documentation that came with the intake making no mention of it not being under warranty. They said it may be Monday until GEICO has an answer, so it's the third weekend in a row stressing out. Guess I'll have to burn it off the way I did in school :icon_muscu:. That or

I couldn't have planned this any better! I'll be able to meet 100+ Scion owners and tons of Scikotics! They're having some huge ass parade down there down Peachtree Street and some other places... I'll have some pics when I get back thats for sure!

I'll have to get my new spark plugs and clean my air filter this weekend, I want to make sure my car is ready for the journey.

Is it still stalling on you? New filter would be good. Did you sign up to be in the parade or are you just going to hang out on the side?
Stu_Gotti
03-07-2008, 03:00 PM
No stalling, its just worrying me when I reach a speed like 55 or 60+ and it begins to rattle HARD like something is unbalanced or something?
I'm being told we're going to be walking in the parade if we choose, but the spots for the cars are gone already... which is no biggie, but I'd hold the banner as I walk... get my girl or buddy to hold the other end or something...

Car is back in the garage. I picked it up from Bayside Scion today after GEICO called back and said they can't cover it under comprehensive. Comprehensive said that they considered water wearing it out over time and damaging the engine, when GEICO mechanical breakdown said it was hydrolock, which only happens with water there when it breaks. WTF! GEICO can't even decide what happened and just chooses the story that allows them to deny coverage. I sent a letter and application form to the National Center for Dispute Settlement, hopefully I can get them to see things as they are. I have the head and short block with the car and am hunting for an ASE master mechanic who can attest to the damage not being due to hydrolock. Anyone know of a shop down here that doesn't completely suck?
I will be tearing down the spare 1NZ-FE to inspect the valves, pistons and bearings before dropping it in. I'm debating whether or not to throw in a set of forged rods and pistons, some guy on Scion Life ordered a set of 10:1 pistons, realized they won't work for a turbo and is trying to sell them cheap. Found out my pops has an engine stand available and the honing tool if new rings are put in. I will be missing the show in Roanoke but should be back by April.

Decisions... decisions... Well like I told ya bro, let me know if you need help or are willing to let me learn some 'ish with ya... I could use some more mechanical knowledge.. haha!
I would reccomend that you push this issue, because I think its insane that the lack of actual scientific findings they have backing their claims... I have done this before and know that it sucks during but after you realize so much you should have done...
Damn warranty crap never is fun... It's like "buy this vehicle with this WONDERFUL warrranty, but the moment it blows, dont come to us, we'll shut ya shit down!"

Just another day at the office, I'll probalby do my take-home midterm.
The Dispute Settlement place never got my letter, so I had them email me a new form that I scanned and sent back to them. Really pisses me off because my car's been down since Feb. 23. I don't want to start rebuilding the spare motor if I can still get Toyota to cover it, but I won't know that until arbitration is finished, which can take up to 40 days. Also found out the drive shaft boot connecting the axle to the trans on the drivers side is pulled back, and the knuckle is pulled away from the trans. Of course the dealer says they didn't do it and blames the tow truck company. The ring that hold the boot on is actually hanging from some nearby wiring, no way in hell that would have happened unless someone intentionally put it there. They piss me off so bad, I wish i had gotten the rental insurance when I had the rental car and driven right through the service manager's office. :guns:

That was the odd thing, the buying experience was excellent.
The xB actually came from Metro Scion in Kalamazoo, MI. They drove it to Freedom Motors a few miles away to have the wheelchair ramp installed. Freedom Motors baid the dealership and I paid Freedom Motors once work was complete. I had found them just looking online, only talked over the phone, and never even saw the car until after I bought it. They even set me up with a mobility vehicle loan through Digital Federal Credit Union. it's set up with longer payment terms and a lower interest rate for wheelchair vehicles only since they tend to be more expensive. My xB ended up costing $26k.
They delivered to my doorstep with an $800 delivery fee. The only thing wrong on delivery was a scratch in the paint, which they paid to have repaired. Also, the dealer pushed through a Mobility Access Rebate, which gave $1000 back from Scion for wheelchair modification. It seems that just the Southern MD ones suck horribly, and seem to be run by good 'ol boys out to shaft anyone who they are not immediately related to. I should have gone to Waldorf but didn't want to deal with towing costs if warranty coverage was denied and it had to come back home.
I've priced overhaul kits, import performance parts has one for $415 including all bearings, gaskets and new pistons. I'll probably tear down the spare and drop that kit in, it will take more time but will be worth it not to gamble that the used engine with 20k miles and sitting a year will just work perfectly.

03-17-2008, 07:17 AM
Could turn out to be a nice build thread though. Everywhere around here is run by the "good ol boys", it sucks. Half the people that work for the shops around here dont even know how to work on cars and just funk them up at our expense.
Man im tired as shit, busy weekend with the Caps game and then the Wizards game....

Talked to Larry for a lil bit yesterday, he said that Nado hit about a 1/4 mile away from him, he had to get under an overpass and get out of his car and hide up in the overpass(trick they teach you in the southern states) but im sure he is going to post up the whole story, but he is alive.

Wow, what a weekend!
:v: Raced down the mountains in Helen, GA behind a Lambo and Viper
:v: Survived a twister in the city of A-town!
:v: Meet some of my Scikotics boys and sista's!
:v: Kicked it with my girl and my Army buddy Oppie!
:v: Seen Tim and his SICK ass booger!
:v: I got to shake the hand of the Marketing President of SCION!
Overall a great weekend, I enjoyed every single bit of it!
I got caught about 1/4 mile from the twister, I was in Fulton county when I was BOMBED with hail and I had to pull off the side of the road. I found out that some of the path it carved was only about 1/4-1/2 mile away from the bridge we were at.. INSANE!
Screwed the parade, but I still repped MD to death at the Toyota show at the Mall of Georgia. I met Rob [TMIC] and tons of others and really enjoyed the time I had spent there... We got some awesome folks in the club guys, Rob and all the other MFIC's I met, hope we can come together and make Asylum and other various multi-chapter club functions come together like this event in ATL.
Hope this year is as good as this event was, you guys will have some fun!
I'll post pics up later, Lisa has them on her camera... I'll see if I can load the video of the Lambo and Viper too... If you get a chance to Google Helen, GA, use the map function, look at the satellites view and check the sick ass turns we took about 5 miles almost 25-40mph... love my handling... especially when its dry out.

Pork chops: Take pork chop, wrap in cling wrap or use gallon size ziplock. Place pork chop inside...beat with pan/mallet/school book pretend your M.Jackson and beat it until about 1/4 inch thick maybe smaller all depends how you want them. Put in eggwash (milk and egg) then into bread crubs (seasoned, and then I season them some more with various items)
Fill pan about 1/4 - 1/2 inch with oil, fry the chop until golden brown on each side. Take Kiezer roll, cut in half use Mayo, mustard, lettuce, and tomato (bacon if you desire) and bam eat that sucka soooooooo banging.
