Hi i'm about to buy an xb but i wanted to ask those of you that have 18's on your xb if it decreases your gas mileage any. cause i'm wanting to put 18x7.5 Baccarat Passion Black rims on it.

My experience depends slightly on the weight of the wheel. I will go down just a little.

Yes you will see loss of gas mileage. !8's are typically heavier and of course more diameter, putting more strain on the drivetrain.

My 15's weigh 12lbs aper rim and that is with tire.... I saw an improvement in gas mileage and acceleration.

i was getting 34 mpg with 18's on my xb last year and they were heavy... 22 lbs without tires...now this year i went to 26-27 mpg with a aluminum flywheel stage 3 clutch feul rail and cam controller i think it has alot more power but the milage sucks...

1lowxb what kind of rims do you have alloy or chrome? cause at the moment i'm just going to get the xb and put chrome rims on it and various other stuff. you were getting 34 on the highway 18's? thats great.

I went from 32 with 15's to about 27 with 18's, and that is all city driving. still get about 30 on the interstate.

bah, at least look good while driving slow you know. the xB dont have a lot of power so make it look good.

I know that i lost a few MPG, but me and my wifes driving is 99% highway.

the milage drop wasn't enought to keep me from getting 18's, i've got crome 18's and there really heavy, don't know the exact weight, but it has dropped my fuel milege to around 26 or 27, o and make shure you get the right tire size. my xb rubs with the 18's and a 225 40 on it, i sugest a 215 35 or around there...

yeah mine used to rub a lot with the 225/40 as well now i went with the 215/35, personally i dont like them but they dont rub.

well the rims i'm looking at are 18x7.5in and weigh about 25 pounds without a tire so i'm guessing it will take of about 1-3 mpg no biggie. the tires will be toyo proxesFZ4225/40.

If you get 215/35 tires, they are only .8% off in size from stock tires. My MPG sucks (around 25 mpg)...my wheels are a few pounds heavier each with tires than stock, and I have intake and exhaust, and I drive like an asshole.

well im just looking to cruise and drive normal and have a flash car, i've probably decided to go with 215/35 tires so they won't rub the wheel well. besides if i wanted to drive like an asshole like i do now i'd keep my mustang or look at a fast car. and do you know if Nitto NeoGen tires are any good?

I had the konig tuner 2's on there at the time that was a city/highway driving.... now this year i have lighter wheels but i am down around 26-27 mpg cause of the stuff i put on the xb... but thats ok it's a hell of alot snappier now...

That's kind of a given, you are pumping way more fuel into that little engine. Any change in overall wheel/tire diameter will affect the gearing and of course the gas mileage. I wouldn't go so far as to ride on 15's.. 18's are really nice.. just find a nice 18" that light and you'll be fine... And really anytime you start modding these cars you sacrifice something.. it's the price you pay to go "dub" LOL
