Did some of you in the lonestar forum catch Ned (Stick_1NZ) ride. Looked like he dropped a SC into his camo xB. Am I crazy or did I see this. :blink2:

Talk to Brandon before you do man, I haven't seen anyone with a SC on an xa/xb yet that was happy with it.

I want to be the fastest xA in DFW. Thats the one thing I know cody can't compete with, since he's on bags with the tank, compressor and all that weight. I should easily smoke him.

soooooooooooo......turbo then?
FrankenScion
04-06-2006, 11:06 PM
Umm..you did......lol.
But if go SC, go with the Greddy.
But if it was me I would totally go turbo, or a complete motor swap would be ideal.

Yeah but I said that direction meaning FI.

 I have been wanting that rare greddy TC since it is keeping with the japanese only theme (except for the friggin AEM intake).
Anybody wanna trade intakes??

If I had it all to do over again, I woulda went with the Greddy S/C. I would not put a turbo on mine just for the simple fact I am an auto. I think a S/C is better suited for auto's in my own personal opinion.
Like Jon said, I am still upset with my S/C but I have not tuned / dyno'd my car yet and hope to this summer.

I'm running a 5 speed. Would a SC or TC matter? Hopefully Santa is good to me this year. :)

If you are going FI it really doesnt matter. The Supercharger sounds mean and will give you more boost on throttle as it is constant throughout the RPM band.
Turbo you are going to have lag, but will get more top end. I am also a sucker for BOV's I love the sound too :P
With either choice, you problems will be identical. Fuel management and our damn ECU learning and reprogramming itself making it run like poo.

Big J. I might have the oldest 'B in TX and still can have a clean EB. That S/C 'B belongs to one of Angel's buddies that was being worked on at Jotech. Kenny was trying to squeeze out at least 50HP after the S/C install. He said if he can't get to that mark then he'll do other tricks to get there. I wish that's my S/C.

hey man, just last time the engine bay was pretty dirty. LOL. thats all.
the B will get 50HP out of it, slap a standalone and tune the mess out of it. LOL

Brandon is right.. It doesn't really matter. However 5 speed will always kill an auto because of the control over the power bands. You'll have more satisfaction out of a S/C than a turbo IMO because like he said, S/C's are always-on power. You'll really feel the boost kick in at the 3k-4k range and at 1/4-1/2 TP. WOT will yield you some fun results too.
I'll preemptively state that I will be next in line as far as a boosted xB. Greddy is shipping my Supercharger kit this week along with a bunch of other goodies.
Here's the setup I'll be running (Engine to drivetrain):
AEM CAI + Front end Ducting scoop (I was going for Greddy because it was offer, but I've always loved AEM)
DC Ceramic 4-1 Headers (the racing headers dont do anything besides make you street illegal and more of a robotic sound)
Greddy Sup2 Exhaust system (Go Greddy!)
Greddy Supercharger+Emanage (Stock tuned at 4psi of boost, making approximately 40whp)
NGK IX Iridium Plugs (-1 Step cold)
Nology Hot wires
Engine Dampener (eliminate some engine rock)
TRD Clutch (Equivalent to a stage 2 aftermarket)
B&M Short shifter
(Stage2 postbuild)
Custom Crower camshaft
Stage1 Fuel Rail
Larger Inejctors to sustenate the 8lbs of boost properly
50 shot NX Nitrous kit (Dual Stage Dry)
Dual Stage Alcohol Injection (my own creation)
I plan to dyno stock, then with the I/H/E, then I/H/E + FI, and finally I/H/E/FI + Tuning the Emanage to 6-8lbs of boost and see what we come up with...
I think I've nailed down a local shop here in H-town to do the experiment for me on a dynojet, with low to no cost all in the sake of "What the fuck are you doing boosting a slow ass car like that?)..
Brandon has the blitz supercharger which is actually a good kit, but their piggyback FMS sucks bigtime. It'd be cool to see if he could get an emanage working with it properly... He's running really rich and that will end up causing issues later down the line and also robbing pure HP. Actually on second thought if the emanage is too much to spend, a simple Apexi SafcII will work wonders giving you a fuel curve up and down of 30% (Don't listen to them saying you can adjust 50% up and down, that's marketing bullshit, real-world experience shows 30%, which is still enough to lean out and enrigh).
Brandon.. you probably already know this.. but if you get to that point, according to sources a good a/f ratio on the low end band is 13.5:1-13.7:1 and the high end is like a 12.0-12.5 but of course dyno tuning will really help dial you in. Remember you can also run a bit leaner if you are enriching with Alky/meth which will help in the long run, but you have to make sure to keep your tanks filled lol.. otherwise
---
Anyways... (end of soapbox rant)
Good luck to both of you with your FI endeavors. The xB is one of the most silliest things to boost, and honestly coming from a car that was 500 to the wheel and driving cars that were 1300 to the wheel this is going to seem like a hot wheel on speed, but still it's going to be a blast. Greddy has proven overall safety, reliablity, and HP per dollar ratio. And no... I'm not just a sponsored driver.. I've been dealing with Greddy forever...

Thanks so much Joe. I don't think that I'll put any S/C or Turbo in the 1NZ.....
