Anyways, like i said,i have a broken windshield now!Thank god for warrenty! But i was just wondering if anyone else has broke their windshield from their system or if mine was just a bad window or something???

That starts at the top edge of the window and goes down and towards the center of the windshield.

All it is,is a jbl p1020II 10" sub in a sealed box thats powered by an alpine mrp-350 amp(350 rms and 700 peak) and i know it hits pretty hard but not as much as some systems that i have seen in other xB2's.

you have a badazz system if it broke your windshield.i have a crack in mine and then installed 4 18" subs and the crack didnt move at all. a rock hit the very top of my windshield and the crack travel about 8 inches and hasnt moved since...just dont push on it...LOL!!

You must have had a little chip, I had a SMALL rock chip and when I was washing the windshield I pressed and BAM, huge ass crack. Our windshields SUCK!!! As does our paint but thats another story for another forum...

There is no doubt that this was caused by a chip that was already there, and most likely spread due to body roll, wind, somthing along those lines. Im not knockin your system man, but there is no way in hell! Single 10, sealed, seeing 350rms just isn't going to cut it to accomplish that! You can ask anyone from asylum, my ish is retarded loud, single 12 seeing just over 2k rms in a built enclosure, slot port. I have never once cracked a windshield, or even splintered an existing crack. It takes a TON of pressure to break or crack a windshield. Just glad to hear its under warranty still! Got a bit of a break there!

Well, thanks for the advice but the crack starts at the top edge of the windshield and worked its way down.I dont think i had a rock chip there b/c it starts under the rubber peice that surronds the window on the top.It is a 2nd gen xb so i didnt know if anyone had run into this problem yet.I think the windshield was either installed imoproperly from the factory like the corolla did or if the window just sucks that much???

Well in that case, it sounds like an install error. Maybe they got a little to friendly with it while putting it in, got a small chip at the edge! Which would be even worse for splinters like that!

my first one started at the top. similar to yours it was not there that night the next morning bam. it started under the weather striping. no ping chip nothing it just appered. so i was like wtf. carried it to the dealer and they did nothing for it. so im still riding the cracked windshield. o hell o well. but i doubt 1 10 caused that. i have seen some pretty bangin stuff and no cracks

My wifes 1st gen xB windshield cracked on the trip back from Asylum. The dealership warrantied it for us. The way they checked to see if it was due to a point of impact was to run a ball point pen down the crack, and if it got snagged on anything then that would indicate that it was due to an impact. They didn't find anything, and contacted their Scion service rep, and they approved it. You might try another dealership, but check it yourself with the pen test first and see if it was an impact before trying to get another dealership to warranty it.

I know 2 people that have xbs and they have had the same issue. The one person had it happen 2 time. They all have braced their cars a lot and have not had any more issues. I just think it might be Flex.

What is your problem? why do you think you have the right to call me a dumb ass?

Yes I think it is really funny because with the set up that is impossible.

Maybe he thought you were being insensitive and laughing at Fergie's set up. Either way you guys play nice.

Not too sure about xB2's but first gens xB's get a hell of alot of cracks and chips because of the angle or lack there of in the windshield. I used to have a tC and rocks hit the windshield all the time and put little tiny pecks in it but thats it. A tC windshield is raked back pretty far. A xB windshield is almost vertical.

umm first off never said anything bad about your system so not sure where you are coming from. i am sorry if you misinterpreted my post. What I was laughing at is simply the fact that you thought that your sub(nothing bad about your sub specifically) cracked your windshield. I guess in simpler terms I was laughing at the subject not your equipment or your car. And since you are trying to insult me by saying that my post is ridiculous maybe you should go back and read the topic that you posted and think about how ridiculous it is. If you knew anything about the subject you would have never assumed that your sub cracked your windshield. So next time you want to mouth off to someone keep it to yourself.

Anyways, thats the way i took it as you saying my stereo was crap.Sorry for coming off that way.I knew the sub wasnt powerful enuf to do that,i just thought it was a freak thing that it did it while i was playing my stereo really loud.

Back to the subject at hand,i found out what the real problem was and it is probably going to start coming up more often on xb2's.There is a couple of clips on the top of the windsheld that is placed form the factory to line the windsheild up and those go into a couple of small tabs. When either your chassis or roof flexs because of too much pressure form your stereo system it will flex out of its movement range it will put pressure on your windsheild and therefore cracking the window. Our dealership has had 2 so far with this problem, mine being the first.I'll post pics in a little while.
