i have an amplifier powering my front speakers, recently i tried running a dual radio set up, i had it hooked up wrong and both radios kicked on, im guessing when they both powerd up and sent audio signals to the amp it over loaded, i hooked every thing up the way it was so its a one radio set up and the amp just puts out a humming crackly sound, any ideas

To find out if it's the amp or not hook up to a known good amp.

The hum can come from a few things, is your power line run close to your rca's or speaker wire? IF so just make sure they are not touching and it should rid of the prob.

If that is not the case i have an easy way to fix the hum, or atleast seriously reduce the feedback.
Step 1, On your rca jacks into the radio you have the prongs Red and white, or black and grey, or blue and red, ect.
Step 2, simply take a ground wire and ground a wire to each of the prongs of the rca plugs and stick it back into the rado rca jacks. this should eleviate most of the hum.

first the power wire next to the RCA's is a myth and doesn't do anything.

What radio do you have. I have seen this problem with pioneer radios a lot and it comes from them just being cheap radios. I can't remember if this is right because I don't do it because I just tell ppl to buy a new radio if they have this problem but you can run a ground form the chassis of the radio to the chassis of the amp and this can sometimes solve that problem. However, there is no way to fix the problem if it is coming form the radio and since you had two radios hooked up and on at the same time you may have damaged the radio.

Depends on the power wire pops, if i run the power from my airbags next to speaker wires or an RCA i get a click everytime i hit a switch, It is not a myth. You get feed back from many different things and people directly think that this is why they have feedback or problems and most times it is not, but feedback can come from speaker wires or rca's that are next to a power source. If that wasn't the case then rule of thumb wouldn't be to run your power on one side with Rca's on the other.

funny, no one asked what kind of amp it is or how old the battery is as well. old batteries do not filter the AC as well and the ground plays a huge part in engine noise. also, if the power wire is run too close to a plug wire it can create havoc. I spent 6 hours one time troubleshooting noise in a car only to find the number 1 spark plug wire had a small hole and the electrical energy was inducing noise in the system, so, myth busted!
